Biden Considers Declaring Another National Emergency Over Climate Change

Top advisers to President Joe Biden have recently resumed talks about the merits of such a move, which could be used to curtail crude exports, suspend offshore drilling and curb greenhouse gas emissions, according to people familiar with the matter who asked not to be named because a final decision has not been made.

White House advisers are divided over the idea of declaring a climate emergency, with some saying it wouldn’t provide Biden with enough newfound authority to make substantial changes, the people said. Others, however, argue such an announcement would galvanize climate-minded voters.

Officials have not made a decision on the matter, nor is any declaration imminent, the people said. White House discussions over potential policy steps can span years, sometimes without ever coming to fruition.

White House spokesperson Angelo Fernandez Hernandez told the paper, “President Biden has treated the climate crisis as an emergency since day one and will continue to build a clean energy future that lowers utility bills, creates good-paying union jobs, makes our economy the envy of the world and prioritizes communities that for too long have been left behind,” Hernandez said.

Moreover, on April 22nd, Earth Day, a number of administrative officials asked questions regarding Biden’s climate actions during a video conference. A press reporter inquired about the alleged consideration to declare another emergency. The official said in a lengthy answer:

From day one, the President has seen the urgency of taking action on climate not just because of the situation it creates in our communities, represented in wildfires and floods and hurricanes, but also a profound sense of urgency to get American workers back in the game competing for the jobs of the future.

For — for a number of years prior to the President taking office, those workers were sidelined, climate was scrubbed from the lexicon, standards were rolled back, and we disinvested both in solutions for climate change and our own competitiveness.

Just to give you an example of how we’ve turned the tide on that, look at the President invoking the Defense Production Act, an emergency authority to jump-start our solar manufacturing capacity in the U.S. Now we’re on track to increase that capacity eightfold.

We used that same Defense Production Act to start, essentially overnight, a heat pump manufacturing industry. We’ve now gotten governors together from across the country to set a deployment goal in this decade not of a few heat pumps, not of thousands of heat pumps, but 20 million — a big goal to get us going — and the sheet metal workers and the unions training up the workforce necessary to do that work.

So, we’ve, I think, taken it — taken climate on with the sense of urgency and the — and the recognition of the stakes. And I think the President continues to direct his team to look at all tools, all authorities that will help us move forward on this objective, both of tackling the crisis and of unlocking the economic opportunity that comes with it.

This declaration comes at a time when Dubai just got seriously flooded, after the mainstream media and Dubai officials openly admitted to a recent new round of cloudseeding in the UAE, and then look at what happened. But, after the media then commenced with their usual gaslighting tactics of “debunking” and “fact-checking” their own truths, in an attempt to say cloudseeding was not the cause, we of course know this will be used as a shiny example of “climate change.”
