The Jerusalem Post reported: ‘Mohammed Reza Zahedi, the top commander in the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) for Lebanon and Syria was assassinated in an airstrike on Monday, along with his lieutenant and about five other officers, the IRGC said that night. Zahedi is the highest-ranking Iranian killed since the current war started.’
Though not injured, Iranian Ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari said at least five people perished in the attack and that Iran’s answer would be “harsh.” The Iranian Embassy in Lebanon stated that the “barbaric Israeli aggression is a flagrant violation of international laws, diplomatic norms, and the requirements of the Vienna Convention.”
Since then Israel and its allies are waiting on a very likely attack from Iran.
Holding Israel accountable for the attacks, Iran’s foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said this was “a breach of all international conventions.”
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Iranian supreme leader, also stated: “The evil regime will be punished by the hands of our brave warriors … and will make them regret this crime and the like by God’s grace.”
Furthermore, President Ebrahim Raisi said, “The perpetrators and sponsors of this major crime will be punished at the hands of the Mujaheds (fighters) of Islam and will get comeuppance for their shameful act,” the Iranian Tasnim News Agency reported
‘Iran has placed its armed forces on “full high alert” and “a decision has been made that Iran must respond directly to the Damascus attack to create deterrence,” according to two Iranian officials,’ Jewish paper Haaretz reported.
Major General Hossein Salami said yesterday, “There is no way to save the Zionists. The Zionists cannot choose between war and life. Their option is to surrender.”
‘The commander added that the US is saving the Zionist regime and extending its existence with artificial respiration, but Israel’s vegetative state will end as soon as the US draws back its supports,’ Tasnim also noted.
