The following report is by People:
Proposed by Democratic representatives in the Michigan House, the legislation would legally allow students to consume edibles, beverages and other low-THC marijuana products on school premises or buses.
The administration of these products would be overseen by a designated school staff member. Only students with clear written authorization detailing the timing and purpose, such as for emergency relief or symptom prevention, could use them.
What it does is allow medical marijuana pediatric patients to have their medication in the schools the same way anyone else has their medications stored.
The same way, whether it be in a nurse’s office or an administration office, they would go up and access their medication the same way anyone else would, and they would go back to class.
Michigan State Rep. Jimmie Wilson Jr., told CBS News.
The new initiative aims to increase accessibility to medical marijuana for eligible students.
In addition, the bill showcases Michigan’s evolving stance on drug policies, aligning with both its legal and illegal drug environment. For example, a bill introduced in September aimed to decriminalize psychedelic plants, and there was a recent revision to the drug-testing policy for new hires this month.
State Sen. Jeff Irwin (D-Ann Arbor) expressed his intent to broaden the dialogue regarding specific substances and their place in society.
“Should people go to jail for this? Should we spend money for these crimes? My answer is no,” he said at the time. Irwin cited potential medical benefits the substances may offer, like reducing depression.
Most of those students who have autism or have chronic pain or epilepsy have to take time out of the school day, miss instructional hours and go off campus to take medicine, and then come back.
Dylan Wegela, one of the bill’s sponsors, discussed the new initiative with CBS. “This would simply make their day a lot more cohesive.”
HB 5603, now under the purview of the Committee on Regulatory Reform since Sept. 28, 2023, also offers guidelines on the transportation and storage of these products. It emphasizes that they should be managed like any other student medication.
In 2015 a New Jersey teen with epilepsy and autism returned to school full time after winning the fight to have the medical marijuana oil she needs administered to her at school. Inspired by her case, Governor Chris Christie enacted a law allowing parents or primary caregivers to give edible medical marijuana to their ailing or disabled children during school hours. This law also safeguards school districts from potential liabilities.
As of January 2022, 36 states, four U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana. Meanwhile, 18 states, the District of Columbia, and two U.S. territories have legalized marijuana for recreational use by adults.
In 2008, the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act made Michigan the 13th U.S. state to embrace medical marijuana. A decade later, with the passage of Ballot Proposal 1 in 2018, it became the 10th state to endorse recreational marijuana use. Notably, Michigan stands as the first midwestern state to enact such legislation, which grants adults and eligible patients the right to acquire, possess, and consume marijuana.

This is of course a fairly contentious topic when discussing CBD and marijuana. While I am not going to get into the perceived pros and cons, my initial thought was, if this passes you’d have to think this will lead to a gateway (no pun intended) to much even bigger drug problem at schools, with public employees literally distributing cannabis products…
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

Oh boy, talk about fighting fire with fire.
Michigan has degenerated into a total wasteland. My origin town in Indiana, Goshen, is just right across the Michigan border. 🙁
Michigan was taken over by the Muslim “immigrants” back in 2008. People who no longer had mortgages had their homes seized by the banks to house them.
Mercy, what next will these morons allow in school? Home school, Home school, kept your children close to you, now more then ever!!
Pro_22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
How do you take a God-designed and useful plant, & turn it into an antichrist tool for defiling, destruction, power and control? Get a dominionist political religious machine modeled on Rome, and attached to Rome at the hip….or the toes….. involved. Those building on the wrong rock.
That’s right! Keep them dumbed-down and stoned; easy pickin’s for the immigrated executioners that are flooding the borders of Kanadastan and the USA. This will assist Rev. 20: 4 without any resistance when the appointed time arrives.
What really sickens me is that both countries are armed…and STANDING DOWN! The people have become nothing more than neutered lap dogs. As countries, we deserve what happens to us.

Gotta fry their brain while they are still young. Perfect slave class, totally brain dead pot head retards that can only perform simple tasks for minimum wage. Weed fries your brain, gives you delusions and schizophrenia. Talking to my former neighbour right now who smokes weed, I’ve been telling him to throw that shit out for a very long time. Well he is having delusions now that his “neighbours” are entering his apartment, going through his stuff, stalking him and spreading rumours about him to every store he goes. He also thinks that the building super attendant is letting people into his apartment when he is away. He wants to go to the lawyer and the police, I told him that he needs to throw the weed out immediately that he is having delusional thoughts. He is just a few joints away from developing a full blown schizophrenia. But he will not listen to reason, keeps on telling me how he will stop smoking weed once he finds a job. His ass has been unemployed for a very long time.
Another former friend of mine: Used to be a very intelligent and smart guy. Started smoking strong weed 5-6 times a day. A complete brain dead moron now, unrecognizable.
And for those of you Pot Heads that say God said it’s good in Genesis 1:29. Not everything God made is meant for human consumption. When the bible says that in Genesis 1:29 it is metaphor it’s not to be taken literally that you can eat every herb. There are herbs that will kill you. God is talking about the good eatable herbs here not Weed.
If you have weed products at your house, throw them out immediately.
I don’t care what others may say, but this year I was having such bad stomach problems and had no appetite but kept starving. I didn’t want pills as I had tried them in the past and was given a recommendation for medical marijuana (it’s legal medically in my state).
Yes, yes, pharmakeia and all that stuff (you are indulging in pharmakeia when you get loaded up on morphine after a horrible accident too, would anyone in their right mind believe you were practicing witchcraft)? Nonsense.
I’m about to let my card expire sometime soon as I’ve managed to get past the stomach issues I had earlier this year (which felt like it was killing me as if I had a tumor or something…). But medical marijuana in my case (a man in his 30’s) helped me out a lot with getting my appetite back on track. I think the option for smoking should be banned, however (I infuse my monthly prescription into coconut oil). I don’t have to smoke and I can take a little bit of oil for my stomach’s sake. I also have CBD oil but it didn’t prove as effective for my stomach ills as THC oil, and not because of a lack of a “high,” as CBD oil has some effects as well if sourced from a reputable vendor.
All this to say; before this year, I believed cannabis was just black and white of the devil and to be avoided as it was partaking in witchcraft. I was EXTREMELY hesitant to try it, but the LORD didn’t chasten me for using the oil when needed, but rather it turned to a blessing for me in helping me through that horrible time. I couldn’t even pray or read my Bible the problem was getting so bad…I wouldn’t be able to focus my mind.
But to just openly give this to children?!?!?! This is sick and wicked and it should remain strictly medical on a reputable doctor’s recommendation. This nation just wants to see more people turning to drugs and becoming a slave to them than seek the Lord Jesus Christ for healing of their traumas. I eat an oil tincture of herb yielding seed that can help me physically. Sometimes it can be the difference between being able to work or not that day, and I have a wife and two boys to provide for.
But this blatant open acceptance of just normalizing cannabis use (and it always becomes about smoking it with fools that push this) is unacceptable and should be stopped, immediately.
