This morning Hamas launched a surprise attack Israel, already killing hundreds, and capturing and holding hostage valued Israeli military targets and equipment. President Benjamin Netanyahu formally announced that Israel is “at war,” and that these are not just normal operations, and Israel will act accordingly. U.S. allies at the White House have already pledged their unflagging aid.
Spoken in Hebrew, Netanyahu stated in a video brief:
Citizens of Israel, we are at war. Not an operation, not a round [of fighting,] at war! This morning Hamas initiated a murderous surprise attack against the state of Israel and its citizens.
We have been in this since the early morning hours. I have convened the heads of the defense establishment. I’ve given directives, first and foremost, to clear the [affected] urban areas of the terrorists who penetrated them. This is happening right now.
In parallel, I am initiating an extensive mobilization of the reserves to fight back on a scale and intensity that the enemy has so far not experienced. The enemy will pay an unprecedented price.
I urge the public to follow strictly the directives of the military, the Home Front Command. We are at war and will win.
Israel had already been on the brink of civil war this year with the people and government thoroughly divided, but given the circumstances it appears that those disagreements will be put aside for the time being.
Opposition Leader Yair Lapid said in a statement that he would be willing to join “a reduced, professional, emergency government,” but that it would be impossible to manage a war with “the extreme and dysfunctional composition of the current cabinet.”
A short while ago, I met with Prime Minister Netanyahu. I told him that in this emergency situation, I’m willing to put aside our differences and form an emergency, narrow, professional government with him to manage the difficult and complex operation ahead of us.
The State of Israel is at war. It won’t be easy and it won’t be short. It has strategic consequences that we haven’t seen for many years. There is a serious risk that it will become a multi-front war.
[Netanyahu] knows that with the current extreme and dysfunctional security cabinet, he can’t manage a war. Israel needs to be led by a professional, experienced, and responsible government. I have no doubt that former Defense Minister [Benny] Gantz would also join a government like this.”Forming an emergency professional government will make clear to our enemies that the vast majority of Israeli citizens stand behind the IDF and security forces. It will make clear to the world, in the international community, that the people of Israel stand united against this threat.
At times like these, there is no opposition or coalition in Israel. We will give full backing to the security forces for a harsh response against terrorism and its proxies.

Apparently, Hamas soldiers have even been using paragliders in their assaults.
Civilians of all ages have been captured and held hostage, many being taken back into Gaza.
U.S. President Joe Biden responded earlier today to the war and offered their definite support. He said in a statement:
This morning, I spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu about the horrific and ongoing attacks in Israel.
The United States unequivocally condemns this appalling assault against Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza, and I made clear to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we stand ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the Government and people of Israel.
Terrorism is never justified. Israel has a right to defend itself and its people. The United States warns against any other party hostile to Israel seeking advantage in this situation. My Administration’s support for Israel’s security is rock solid and unwavering.
Jill and I are keeping in our prayers all of the families who have been hurt by this violence. We are heartbroken by the lives that have been tragically cut short and hope for a swift recovery for all those who have been wounded.
My team and I are tracking this situation closely, and I will remain in close touch with Prime Minister Netanyahu.

An adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday congratulated Palestinian fighters for launching the biggest attack on Israel in years, the semi-official ISNA news site reported.
“We congratulate the Palestinian fighters,” it quoted Yahya Rahim Safavi as saying. “We will stand by the Palestinian fighters until the liberation of Palestine and Jerusalem.”
Iran’s state television showed parliament members rising from their seats on Saturday to chant “Death to Israel” and “Palestine is victorious, Israel will be destroyed”.

I would say continue to pray for peace for the land of Jerusalem and Israel, as the bible says, but also pray for God’s judgment to continue to come upon the earth and nations, and to praise and thank him for his righteous judgments:

I have very dear Jewish friends who live in Israel, and so far, they are safe. I pray for the peace and safety of all Israel, realizing that the true answer to that prayer for Jerusalem is the arrival of the Prince of Peace. He is the only Guarantor of peace and safety for Israel. At the end of the day, pray that God’s will be done; it will be, whether or not you or I pray.
We know these things must come to pass because Jesus said they would. It’s not very pretty or encouraging, but it’s when people are at their lowest that they’re forced to look up (to God). In His Word, He has promised He’d spare a remnant; He will, but most will die because they are godless.
