The accepted Building Energy Act (GEG) has been hotly contested for months – that mandates German citizens with dated heating systems replace those units within an allotted time period, though the final package lessened some of the requirements and snipped out some exceptions.
However, according to ReMix, nearly 75% of the aged buildings in the country will now to be retrofitted, which will be ‘an enormous cost burden at a time when Germany has also phased out nuclear power and the price of energy, particularly oil and natural gas, has soared.’
ReMix noted:
Many Germans — already struggling with inflation and a slowing economy — balked at the mandate to install new expensive heating systems, with the law being rejected by the majority of the populace, according to polling. The government is also being accused of a hasty legislative process and a lack of parliamentary hearings, calling into question the democratic basis for the law in its entirety.
Many Germans have all of their savings in their home, and for many seniors, their homes, often featuring older heating systems, have seen their value take a hit due to the law. At the same time, in the coming years, they will be forced to make costly heating upgrades — usually in the form of a heat pump and the associated costs of making it work efficiently inside a building — to meet new green standards. Experts are also warning that landlords will have an incentive to increase rents in response to the Building Energy Act.
“There is fear among the population,” shouted Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) in parliament. He stated it is “the height of disrespect” for the citizens to pass the law and that the CSU would work to abolish it.
The AfD faction strictly rejects Habeck’s (…) heating hammer. Despite severe criticism, the law was neither postponed nor defused. The tricky thing about the law, however, is that the heating has to be torn out again if it does not meet the municipalities’ heat planning required by 2028. In this way, the government is hiding the devastating consequences for millions of people and is transferring the risk of the heat transition to the citizens.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
Proverbs 29:2
I have not reported on it frequently, but Europe is getting utterly destroyed with outrageous inflation and energy prices. The costs are unfathomable and are going to get worse because of edicts like this, and the stupid restrictions Germany and NATO nations have levied against Russia, and Russia’s counter restrictions.
This past winter was mild, but this year could very easily a nasty one. This applies to everyone reading, but I again urge readers to make sure you have ample winter clothing, alternative and decentralized ways to make heat, and so forth.
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
