Warner Music has been facing some controversy in recent days after the record label officially signed a faux, artificial intelligence pop star to a new recording contract.

The “artist” in question is an AI avatar called Noonoouri, having existed since 2018 and eventually was integrated into the music scene earlier this month. Prior to entering the music field, the bot also appeared in Balenciaga, Valentino, and Dior campaigns, according to Daily Mail.

According to the bot’s Virtual Humans bio page, Noonoouri is described as:

Noonoouri is a cartoony, 19-year-old fashionista hailing from Munich, Germany. She has worked with most of the top brands in the fashion industry and continues to wow consumers with her unique look. Noonoouri balances her platform between social good and promotion.

She’s vegan, advocates for sustainable fashion, and refuses to wear furs while making countless cameos with fashion brands all around the world. The creator of Noonoouri has said the primary goal is to provide entertainment while informing audiences in a new medium.

Noonoouri is the creation of Joerg Zuber, founder of creative agency Opium Effect.

On September 1st a music video and song titled “Dominoes” was published on online, in collaboration with German DJ Alle Farben. It has since received over 100,000 views on YouTube. Noonoouri announced the new deal with Warner Music upon its release, the first time a such a deal has ever occurred.

In an Instagram post the AI account wrote:

Music plays a big role in my life since the beginnings. It sets me into the mood and nourishes my visions and ideas to bring them to life as a driving force inside of me. Warner Music is the home of a lot of my fave music artists. I cannot be more thankful and honoured to join such a wonderful family, where music tunes are the beat of life.’

According to Interesting Engineering: ‘the creators used artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create Noonoouri’s singing voice. The voice was based on a real singer but was altered to give Noonoouri her unique voice. The lyricists, singers, and musicians who have worked on the song will receive royalties and publishing splits just like musicians do in other non-AI-generated songs.’

As AI continues to creep its way into everything it seems, the music industry has seen rapid advancement in a short timeframe.

In June the Grammy’s announced that AI music would be eligible to win as long as the work was not 100% AI, having at least one physical contributor on it. But then earlier this month it was revealed that AI-generated song that emulates the voice of famous rapper Drake was up for a Grammy award. And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.

Ecclesiastes 1:17

This stuff is just out of control, and it is so sickening to witness. So now these evil people who work at these music industries are going to proliferate a totally fake, scantily clad avatar that looks like it’s a child. The perverseness on display is only going to get worse, as more people continue to embrace this. Right now Warner Music is facing backlash for this move, but it give more time and more people will tolerate and accept it.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
