A neutral interface device has begun to go viral online, one that is touted as being able to essentially allow people to communicate with machines and other devices by simply articulating that in thought.

Arnav Kapur, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), created this AI-powered device in 2018 called “AlterEgo.” According to him and MIT, the device is touted as a non-invasive, wearable, peripheral neural interface that allows users to “converse in natural language with machines, artificial intelligence (AI) assistants, services, and other people without any voice—without opening their mouth, and without externally observable movements—simply by articulating words internally.”

The device has recently gone viral once again, according to Forbes India, describes how the interface is placed around the person’s ear and is able to answer tough questions like “the largest city in Bulgaria and its population” in a snap of the fingers. The neural interface was able to read Kapur’s mind as he was demonstrating it, and then found the answer by accessing Google without him saying and or doing anything.

MIT claims that this device could be a resolution to certain neurological disorders.

Beyond that, the system has the potential to seamlessly integrate humans and computers—such that computing, the internet and AI would weave into our daily life as a ‘second self’ and augment our cognition and abilities.

MIT adds

Forbes additionally noted: ‘The device is also capable of doing tasks such as ordering a pizza without using any app/phone. Kapur says the idea behind the device is for a user to have the entire internet in their head—eventually becoming an expert on any subject.’

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

As I have said so many times before, it seems like nearly every time so new invasive technology arrives that can and will be used for evil and nefarious acts, that’s almost always what ends up happening and is later repackaged for and against the broad masses.

[14] As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed. [15] The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth. [16] The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

Proverbs 26:14-16

One of my initial thoughts when I read this was just how insanely lazy this will make people more than they already are. I mean, Forbes and Wion referenced ordering pizza with this. Imagine being so lazy you couldn’t be bothered to actually pick up the phone and order it, or punch in the info online, or pick it up or eat out, (and God forbid you make it yourself at home (!)); you can now just think it with your mind.

Moreover, this type of thing fits right in line with the push to have everything interlinked and controlled by AI, including the person. You see, that’s the real mark of the beast, not just some dainty chip: it’s being fully integrated in the grid and having your mind completely taken over.

[16] And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: [17] And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. [18] Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Revelation 13:16-18

Time will tell if AlterEgo receives wider adoption or we see something emulate it.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
