Despite facing criticism and calls to not carry out their plans, Japan has begun to release toxic, radioactive nuclear waste from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the open seas, prompting embargos from neighboring China.

The WinePress reported on Japan’s decision to go through with the operation in December.

Today The Japan Times reported the ‘Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (Tepco), the plant’s operator, started releasing the water at 1:03 p.m. after weather and sea conditions were judged favorable. No anomalies were reported in the initial release.’

We would like to proceed with a great sense of urgency.

The water being dumped are water stores from the damage nuclear facilities that were crippled following an earthquake in 2011. The cooling water is laced with heavy metal tritium, a radioactive form of hydrogen found in nuclear reactors and weaponry. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says that tritium “moves easily through the environment just like water,” and when ingested “goes directly into soft tissues and organs. Tritium is excreted through the urine within a month or so after ingestion.”

However the EPA whitewashes these effects by stating that, “People are exposed to small amounts of tritium every day, since it is widely dispersed in the environment and in the food chain,” and “it disperses quickly” if ingested.

But the Nuclear Information and Resource Center (NIRC) warns of the very serious health effects caused just by tiny amounts of tritium in the water, noting that it “cannot be removed from the environment once it is released,” and “it will [remain] dangerous for at least 120 years.”

The NIRC warns:

The public is only now becoming aware of the magnitude of tritium’s hazards. Most studies indicate that tritium in living creatures can produce typical radiogenic effects including cancer, genetic effects, developmental abnormalities and reproductive effects.

Tritium can cause mutations, tumors and cell death. Tritiated water is associated with significantly decreased weight of brain and genital tract organs in mice and can cause irreversible loss of female germ cells in both mice and monkeys even at low concentrations.

Studies indicate that lower doses of tritium can cause more cell death, mutations and chromosome damage per dose than higher tritium doses. Tritium can impart damage which is two or more times greater per dose than either x-rays or gamma rays.

There is no evidence of a threshold for damage from 3H exposure; even the smallest amount of tritium can have negative health impacts. Organically bound tritium (tritium bound in animal or plant tissue) can stay in the body for 10 years or more. While tritiated water may be cleared from the human body in about 10 days, if a person lives in an area where tritium contamination continues, he or she can experience chronic exposure to tritium.

Tritium from tritiated water can become incorporated into DNA, the molecular basis of heredity for living organisms. DNA is especially sensitive to radiation. A cell’s exposure to tritium bound in DNA can be even more toxic than its exposure to tritium in water.

Notwithstanding, understanding the risks, the Japanese government has deemed this move ‘safe.’

We see this as a very important moment in the process and understand that there are many people interested in the project, so we would like to proceed putting the greatest importance on safety.

Keisuke Matsuo, a Tepco press officer, told reporters about 30 minutes after the release operations began.

Neighboring China was displeased with the move and suspended all imports of seafood from Japan, which will have a noticeable effect on Japan’s affluent seafood market. China’s foreign ministry said this us an “extremely selfish and irresponsible act.

[We are] suspend[ing] the import of aquatic products originating in Japan from Aug 24, 2023, including edible aquatic animals.

[This is to] comprehensively prevent the food safety risks of radioactive contamination caused by the discharge of nuclear wastewater from Fukushima into the sea.

The Chinese General Administration of Customs said

Reuters also pointed out that some Chinses began panic buying, items such as salt.

It’s really not necessary to hoard salt, but when I saw loads of people panic-buying this morning, I quietly ordered 10 packets.

I bought lake salt and salt from salt mines. I now avoid sea salt.

Wrote one user on microblogging platform Weibo.

In response to that, ‘Tepco President Tomoaki Kobayakawa said the company will offer compensation to companies hit by the restrictions, while continuing efforts to explain the the safety of the operations. The government has also set up a fund of ¥30 billion to cover additional reputational damage,’ The JT noted.

South Korea’s government is fine with the move but requests that continued and strategic transparency be allowed.

What’s important now is whether Japan, as it promised to the international community, strictly follows the scientific standards and transparently provides information.

Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said at a briefing.

Over the course of the next several decades Tepco intends to continuously offload millions of tons of treated water. At present, the company was set to release around 200 and 210 metric tons of the toxic fluids into the Pacific Ocean a little more than half a mile offshore per an underwater tunnel. The company seeks to raise the daily discharge amount to roughly 460 tons.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

Well, as if our ocean’s weren’t polluted enough already… Thanks Japan.

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Revelation 11:18

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • God’s judgement is heading to Japan for this evil!
Japan is guilty of some of the most heinous and shocking evils during World War II including Unit 731 death experiment laboratories, so evil!

Also, the majority of men are a bunch of video game obsessing dorks and the majority of adults from 20s to 40s my age included are all about video games and anime, it’s no wonder the birth rates in Japan are dropping like a lead cinder block, the women either can’t find a man or they’re just as big of losers as the so-called men.

  • Mankind is good at one thing; destroying everything he gets his hands on or throws in the garbage, I am sure the fish will enjoy that
    God’s wrath is coming soon!!!

  • This is nothing new – this has been happening for years – this is actually a troll report – since the disaster the release of radioactive nuclear waste into the Atlantic ocean has been non stop day and night – they lost control of the core and now it is just impossible to stop what is happening – no can stop it. Japan would if she could but cannot – nuclear power plants are the nuclear bombs – nuclear fusion cannot take place in a capsule released in mid air – this is nonsense.
