Blake’s meteoric rise to fame happened largely in part because of the controversial nature surrounding Blake being a self-proclaimed drag artist.
The controversy began when Christian artist Dereck Webb partnered with Blake in a song titled “Boys Will Be Girls,” according to Pride Source, that features Webb transforming into a drag queen as the song progresses as Blake helps apply the makeup and sing in the song.
Some of the lyrics of the song say,
I heard Jesus loved and spent his life with those who were abandoned by proud and fearful men. So if a church won’t celebrate and love you, they’re believing lies that can’t save you or them.
Other songs by Flamy Grant include “Good Day,” described as “an uplifting anthem for anyone who has felt excluded by the church,” adding that “Evangelicals do not own God. They don’t have the keys to heaven. And you don’t have to play by their rules to be Christian.” The song is apart of the album Bible Belt Baby which was released last year.
However, the album finally reached the limelight after worship leader Sean Feucht, who boasts that he is a “MAGA-preacher,” picked up on this album and blasted Grant on X.

After a little back and forth, Grant seized the opportunity to promote his music in the Christian sphere. “Sean Feucht thinks hardly anyone is interested in a drag queen. Good Day deserves a spot on the #christianmusic charts, dontcha think?,” Grant said.
‘Grant’s full album, “Bible Belt Baby,” however, has been number one on the iTunes Christian album chart for more than a week,’ Pride Source wrote on August 4th.
Grant reveled in this in an interview with Billboard.
It’s been very, very cool. If there’s one thing that every drag performer has in common, it’s that we know how to capitalize on a moment.
It’s wild because the album is 10 months old. I’m still in that touring phase, but this certainly brought it up to a level I did not anticipate 10 months into the release of this.

Billboard noted that after Grant to took to social media promoting her song, ‘“Good Day” briefly hit No. 1 on iTunes’ Christian Songs charts, and her album Bible Belt Baby reached No. 1 on their Christian Albums chart — where it stayed for seven straight days, until falling to No. 2 on Aug. 3 to Lauren Daigle’s Look Up Child.’
According to Flamy he says that Amy Grant is aware of him and likes the drag queen’s work.
I know Amy Grant knows about me. Some people who were in her orbit have talked to me and said, ‘Amy thinks it’s great.’ I am hopeful that there will be some kind of collaboration someday.

Grant said he grew up listening to CCM but that they don’t recognize the genre compared to today.
That’s the thing about Christian music — it was never defined by any actual genre. It was a rubber stamp saying, ‘Your kids will be safe listening to this.’ Now, a lot of Christian music feels like an assembly line of trite, overused clichés about how, ‘I’m gonna sing to God about how good God is.’
I chose Christian music because it matters to me. The reason I’m here is because I know there are queer kids still growing up listening to this. I want them to see the options available to them. I don’t want them to have to go through what I did, which was to conform, or get kicked out.

Moreover, in an interview with NBC’s Today, Grant reaffirmed how grateful he is.
This is a huge moment for the 16-year-old version of myself who was writing songs, hoping to be on the same stages that Amy Grant was playing as I was growing up. It’s massive and wonderful, and I’m so grateful.
I watched people get kicked out of my community for breaking those rules, and it’s scary because they tell you that there’s nothing good waiting for you on the other side. The whole world is cast as this deviant, scary, bad place. So it means everything to me to be able to have a little bit of presence on the Christian charts in Christian music space.
One woman just messaged me today and was like, ‘My soul has been craving an opportunity to venture back into spiritual community, and I just haven’t known how to do it because I just believed that the church wasn’t for me anymore … This has changed that for me, and it’s given me the courage to explore queer-affirming churches.’
People want to tell you, ‘You can’t do that,'” Grant says. “‘You can’t do drag in church. You can’t do drag, period.’ I’m like: ‘But I can.’
Furthermore, Grant also shared his excitement and glee when blowing up in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.
I’m standing in the sanctuary painted for the gods (or God, if you’re monotheistic!) because queer people belong there — we have always been there and we always will be.
Evangelicals like to think they own the religion and get to decide who is in or out, creating an endless cycle of trauma for the queer kids they keep making and raising in those oppressive spaces.
I’m here in all of my draggy audacity to demand they reckon with reality: they have a terrible theology when it comes to queerness that hurts people rather than helping them connect with the divine.
I’m going to do my damndest to make sure the queer folks you’ve forced into the closet see themselves represented in the church. We hear it all the time: representation matters. That is just as true on hallowed ground as it is in Hollywood or anywhere else.
I don’t want to be associated with that! We’re seeing vast numbers of people leave the church, and studies point to its stance on LGBTQ issues as the number one reason for the mass exodus. I think leaving is actually probably the best decision for most people. I support that, I champion that. Get out, girl. Find a place where you are wholly celebrated and loved for who you are.
The problem is there will always be more queer kids coming up in church. Who is going to show them a hopeful future?

I hope to meet her one day and thank her for being a rare bright spot and source of grape, grape joy (that’s for the real Amy fans) for a closeted queer kid who just wanted to dance in the House of Love.

The CCM scene is the biggest joke ever. It is compromised of the fakest, charlatans out there; many of whom do not even make a measly profession of faith and are ashamed to call themselves a “Christian artist,” Lauren Daigle being a shining example of that. Both camps here are in the wrong, both fake, both are frauds; as asserted in these scriptures, using the world’s ways to entertain, beguile, and bewitch the simple:

Old hymns are the best and Andrew your right it want be long they are going down soon very soon.Not to change the subject but I went to the eye doctor yesterday because I need to replace my prescription glasses.They asked if I get dry eyes I said yeah dry and gritty.The eye doctor said ok will take care of that and he went and got me some eye drops which I thought ok that’s nice and when I got home I looked at them and it said they were NANO eye drops.Do you think it would be ok to take them or throw them away.I personally don’t feel right about using them.I think I’m gonna try a natural alternative.

Regarding your eye drops you were given, does it list ingredients? What manufacturer are they from? I only ask because I’m a former nurse (the LORD directed me out of the wicked healthcare industry 5+ years ago…SO THANKFUL to Him for that) To be honest, I personally have no trust in anything pharmaceutical going onto or into my body. I think the Holy Spirit is speaking to you.
