The position involves investigating high-end crypto fraud, money laundering and other blockchain-based crime carried out by organized crime groups. The investigators will be working with a surveillance team and London police.
The role requires working and collaborating with other investigators, intelligence and analysis team members to develop complex cases using data and evidence from various sources.
The position requires a current or active Professionalising Investigation Programme Level 2 accreditation or any equivalent government-issued qualification on investigative crime. The salary ranges from 34,672 pounds to 38,314 pounds ($44,145 to $48,782.92) and other civil service benefits.
The U.K. has been working to establish an investigative team focusing on illicit crypto activities. On Jan. 4, the NCA launched its digital assets team, signaling an increased focus on crypto assets. The formation of the unit was driven by an increase in value lost to crypto fraud in the U.K. in 2022. According to the U.K.’s reporting system for cybercrime and fraud, crypto scammers stole at least $287 million in 2022.
The NCA has continuously tried to bring more manpower to its crypto team. On July 26, the NCA also posted that it was looking for financial investigations managers. These investigators will oversee crypto and digital assets crime investigations from a Proceeds of Crime Act perspective, which is related to confiscating and redirecting crime money for the benefit of the community.

Last month I reported how nations around the world are tightening their grip on the crypto space. While normally I am not in favor of government expansion and overreach, this is one of those things where I do think some kind of oversight and regulation is needed.
As mentioned in that report I did, ‘I’ve binged watched a lot of videos by a YouTuber named Coffeezilla, and he is legitimately one of the last real honest investigative journalists out there; and he primarily exposes a lot of these crypto, NFT, Ponzi, and get rich quick schemes on his channel. He has heavily advocated for government regulation into this industry to prevent these nefarious scams. And while I am usually very much against the government increasing it’s power and scale even more than it already is, after watching his content, I am more than persuaded that regulation needs to be there.’

I also wrote: ‘However, I think this was the plan all along. Feel free to call me a tinhat conspiracy theorist, but I think a lot of these crypto and NFT scams were created on purpose by these psychos in the government and central banks, paying out celebrities and other entrepreneurs to shill these coins, pump & dump and rug pull them, wait for the fallout and cries for regulation, and then incomes the central banks and world governments with their regulations that basically shut down the space; while at the same time implementing the CBDCs as the replacement, now that people’s interest and familiarity was peaked.’
Just recently Worldcoin made its debut, and one of the main functions is to “solve” the problem its creator purposefully created with AI and Chat-GPT, by scanning people’s eyes and creating unique digital IDs, and giving people crypto in return. This is not the regulation needed, but perhaps it will be adopted for this cause, or something like it.
