Cartoon Network seems to be pushing a lot of it the most this time around.

For International Pride month, popular children’s show channels continue to encourage little kids and tweens to celebrate with and honor the LGTBQIA+ community, continuing a trend that these networks have been doing for many years.

For example, the popular show for very young children toddlers, Sesame Street showed their allegiance this year. Pride magazine wrote: “Sesame Street is (once again) showing support for inclusivity, and the homophobes are predictably losing their marbles in response.”

‘Included was a picture of the rainbow flag with the extra chevron representing the trans community and BIPOC, alongside some smiling flowers and a butterfly—overall a completely harmless celebration of inclusion, unless you are a person who is opposed to LGBTQ+ inclusivity on a fundamental level,’ Pride magazine added.

On our Street, we celebrate inclusion, belonging, and freedom of authentic self-expression. Happy #PrideMonth to all the people in our neighborhoods! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💗🤍🤎🖤.

Moreover, Sesame Street posted another tweet promoting Pride month to children. “This #PrideMonth, let’s celebrate diversity and unity and spread love and acceptance. Together, we can make the world a kinder place for all. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜,” the show account wrote.

Cartoon Network this year seems to really be pushing Pride month on the children. The channel posted on their Twitter page, “You are an EXPERIENCE! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Kick off Pride Month by showing yourself and others love and appreciation! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜.” Included are some hand drawn renditions of characters who identify with the LGTBQIA+ community, one of which includes a picture of “Him,” the most evil and strongest villain in the Power Puff Girls universe, in a provocative pose. A Wikipedia article describes Him as “a mysterious, sinister, effeminate, and supernatural demon.”

Furthermore, on June 1st, the official Looney Tunes social media account published a collage of Bugs Bunny throughout dressed as a female, writing, “Happy Pride, get your drag on 🌈.”

More recently, in time for Pride Month, the Cartoon Network show “We Baby Bears,” a spin-off of its predecessor “We Bare Bears,” aired an episode that featured the characters sharing their pronouns, such as she/her and they/them. GLAAD, one of the largest pro-LGTBQIA+ advocacy groups in the world, was allowed to provide a sneak-peak to the new episode before it aired and streamed.

Prior to Pride Month, The WinePress reported that the popular Total Drama series would be airing two reboot seasons after being on hiatus for years. Before the show aired, brochures distributed at media fairs indicated that the show would feature drag queen competitions. Since the first season aired earlier this year there appeared to not be any drag queens, but did see the series’ first gay couple.

In 2021 Nickelodeon broke new ground and featured drag queens on the reboot of Blu’s Clues, among other things.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Proverbs 29:15

Be a good, nurturing, disciplinary parent: don’t let your kids watch this crap. Actually be there in their lives. Don’t let them watch TV or stream shows at all. Give them chores to do. Teach them skills. Make them read books. Make them go outside and get some sun and exercise.

But this is par for the course in 2023, when “Him,” a literal demonic villain, purposefully depicted as a lascivious sodomite and cross-dresser, is now being celebrated as an idol for kids to emulate.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
