Untied States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has done a complete 180 and is now saying the U.S. supports a full invasion by China to takeover Taiwan.
Blinken made these comments after visiting Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing, Mediaite reported.
I raised U.S. concerns, shared by a growing number of countries, about the PRC’s [People’s Republic of China] provocative actions in the Taiwan Strait as well as in the East and South China Seas.
On Taiwan, I reiterated the longstanding U.S. One China policy. That policy has not changed. It’s guided by the Taiwan Relations Act, the Three Joint Communiques, the Six Assurances.
We do not support Taiwan independence, we remain opposed to any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side. We continue to expect the peaceful resolution of cross-strait differences.
We remain committed to meeting our responsibilities under the Taiwan Relations Act, including making sure that Taiwan has the ability to defend itself.
Blinken said
The Global Times, a state-owned Chinese media publication, was quick to republish Blinken’s sentiments.
Furthermore, after mainstream media and the Biden administration continued to blame China for a rouge balloon floating over the country back in February, President Biden on the weekend then decided to save face and minimize his previous sentiments.
I don’t think the leadership knew where it was and knew what was in it and knew what was going on.
I think it was more embarrassing than it was intentional.
I’m hoping that, over the next several months, I’ll be meeting with Xi again and talking about legitimate differences we have, but also how there’s areas we can get along.

This announcement by Blinken puts a rub in the many previous statements made by the Biden administration, and their claims to defend Taiwan whatever the cost and if China decides to launch an offensive.
In April The WinePress reported that many Taiwanese civilians were already becoming less and less sure that the United States would come to their aid if China launched an attack.

However, the Biden administration’s new posture comes as military officials from the island nation have signed-on to work with U.S. and Japanese forces to simulate a war-game, playing out what could most likely happen if China attacks Taiwan. It will be held in July in Tokyo, South China Morning Post reported.

I think we pretty much knew this all along that this is what would be the case, and Taiwan would be forced to defend itself, which will prove to be unsuccessful in the end. The U.S. could reverse course again, but I think, as I have said before, that it appears if anything the U.S. will probably just do with Taiwan as they have done with Ukraine, by sending numerous spending and weapons packages.
