Welcome to the new America.

A TikTok video has gained national attention that highlights how a Target in San Francisco, California, has placed multiple aisles of goods behind security cases to prevent people from stealing and mobbing the store.

The goods in particular appear to be things like toiletries, cosmetics, soap and shampoo, and more.

A Target spokesperson said in a statement to The New York Post:

Like other retailers, organized retail crime is a concern across our business. We’re taking proactive measures to keep our teams and guests safe while deterring and preventing theft.

The Post further noted:

The Bay Area has been especially hard hit by a national organized retail crime epidemic that ballooned during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading chains such as Walgreens to close five San Francisco stores due to theft.

The National Retail Federation’s 2022 retail security survey ranked San Francisco/Oakland as the second-most hard-hit metropolitan area by theft in 2020 and 2021, only behind Los Angeles.

The organization lists items like body wash and over-the-counter medication as items that are particularly attractive to shoplifters, who can often sell their stolen wares on the black market to smaller stores.

New York City crept up to third on the list in 2021, outpacing Chicago.

Seventy-one percent of retailers surveyed by the association said they had seen a “substantial” or “moderate” increase in organized retail crime, with 55% saying that policies that reduce or eliminate cash bail for non-violent crimes in cities like San Francisco and New York are to blame.

The WinePress reported last August that more stores around the country were beginning to put a growing number of random items behind theft-proof cases, down to things like cans of SPAM, or even security tags on cuts of meat at select Walmarts.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

Welcome to the new America. A nation without God and his word, reduced down to anarchy and gangland.

[7] Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: [8] Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: [9] Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

Proverbs 30:7-9

And what The NY Post hinted at is true, that a growing number of cities are now allowing people to steal a number of goods under certain dollar amounts, and the store and police cannot really do anything about it; essentially creating a de-facto law that protects theft and “petty” crimes. And do people stop it? Of course not, they just pull out their phones and stare like mindless zombies; and even if some did, they’d be the ones probably getting arrested!!

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
