Beginning on March 28th, the supermarket giant will start charging 42 cents per bag for delivery orders in New Jersey, and 10 cents for each bag for in-store or pickup purchases.
This rule applies to both plastic and paper.
This was not Walmart’s decision but rather was forced to comply to the state’s law.
According to a FAQ on Walmart’s website, the company explains that New Jersey says this is being implemented due to a increase inn plastic pollution.
Starting March 28, 2023, there will be a fee of $0.42 per bag for delivery.
Walmart has provided free reusable bags in New Jersey while customers, the state legislation, and other retailers adjust to this new law. If you opt out of buying more reusable bags, please leave totes or reusable bags at your doorstep.
The State of New Jersey defines single-use carryout bags as ones made of paper or plastic that are not reusable.
The State of New Jersey passed this legislation in response to the growing problem of plastic pollution.
The company wrote
New Jersey enacted this law on May 4th, 2022, and has now gone into effect for Walmart and other businesses. The New Jersey law also effects plastic platter and straws.
Starting May 4, 2022, New Jersey retail stores, grocery stores and food service businesses may not provide or sell single-use plastic carryout bags and polystyrene foam food service products. Single-use paper carryout bags are allowed to be provided or sold, except by grocery stores equal to or larger than 2500 square feet, which may only provide or sell reusable carryout bags. After November 4, 2021, plastic straws may be provided only upon the request of the customer.
The state explains on their website

The additional 10 cent charge has already been in effect in New Jersey and other states since January 1st of this year.
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, New York, Oregon, and Vermont, have all been affected by this law since January 1st and a bit thereafter. This translates to hundreds of Walmarts forced to comply.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY
I remember the days when they still used to ask you, ‘Paper or plastic?’ Then the paper got rapidly phased-out because the eco-warriors were complaining that Woody the Woodpecker’s habitat was being destroyed, as was Hooty the spotted owl loosing his home in the forest; so we needed to transfer to plastic to be environmentally safe.
Now plastic is everywhere and in everything, rapidly destroying the environment and massively polluting the oceans, as the plastic bleaching has thoroughly made its way into our food and water, as too with the microplastics, which are terrible for our health and longevity.

Furthermore, when masks were mandated everywhere, as we have seen, masks littered the streets, sidewalks, carts, and elsewhere. Masks are now littered all throughout the wild and have killed animals as a result.
Face Masks And Other Covid Related Waste Are Killing Wildlife
And so now state governments have to charge cash-strapped Americans to get rid of the convenience of these plastic bags – the plastics that these eco-killers told us would be so great.
Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
Proverbs 15:21
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

My last salary was $8750, ecom only worked 12 hours a week. My longtime neighbor estimated $15,000 and works about 20 hours for seven days. e3 I can’t believe how blunt he was when I looked up his information See My Name Check Visit,
Daniel 2:
19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
In Japan it’s still really cheap. 2 yen for a small bag and 5 yen for a medium bag in the supermarket near me.
Right now, where I live in Washington state, it is $0.08 per bag if you don’t bring your own.
We recycle both types of bags here, independently, & only certain ‘you bad carbon people’ stores force their fake transformative $$ recycling tax on people. Aldis started the trend here. Back in the day we knew a fellow who changed his major from business & management to education & admin ‘because he didn’t want to work for those socialists’ after a stint in Aldis management. We never could figure out how he thought either the frying pan or the fire, working for the devil without a squeak or a share of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ according to the scriptures permissible was the place to be….but he accommodated like a good Catholic, & followed the money, became a social justice warrior with ‘Promise Keepers’.

One more reason not to shop Walmart & to support local & family businesses, farmers’ markets (tho they become full of smug civic religion & government-employed electric car drivers, self-righteous pink-haired chicken hugging lesbians, Amish-Catholic socialists, & new age bologna with ‘Christianese’ frosting real fast). Perilous times. Discernment required. Where possible: grow your own.

Occupy until he comes. Circumspectly. Watchfully.
The bags Walmart provides now are ridiculous. They are heavy duty, take much
more time to decompose and I would wager very, very few are recycled or ever used again for anything.
