The fast food giant Chick-fil-A announced recently that they will begin dabbling with some plant-based meat alternatives, adding what they call the Cauliflower Sandwich to the menu.

According to a press release, the new food item will be mimic their classic chicken sandwich but will be made with cauliflower instead.

The sandwich is made with a tender filet cut from a whole, real cauliflower and embraces the plant-forward style that places vegetables at the center of the entrée. The preparation is similar to the original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich – it is marinated, breaded with a signature seasoning, pressure-cooked, and served on a toasted buttery bun with two dill pickle chips.

The company said

The company added that they their test kitchen chefs spent over 4 years trying to perfect this sandwich so they can start offering plant-based alternatives.

We explored every corner of the plant-based space in search of the perfect centerpiece for our plant-forward entrée.

Time and time again, we kept returning to cauliflower as the base of our sandwich. After a significant amount of development, we knew we had a one-of-a-kind entrée; one that puts a delicious spin on what we’re known for – great tasting food with ingredients you can trust.

Stuart Tracy, culinary developer of the Chick-fil-A Cauliflower Sandwich, said

However, this sandwich cannot be considered truly vegan. Milk and eggs are used in the making of this sandwich, and will be made on the same surfaces meals made with meat in them.

This sandwich will only be available at three test locations across the United States: Denver, Colorado, Charleston, South Carolina, and North Carolina’s Greensboro-Triad region.

Cauliflower is the hero of our new sandwich, and it was inspired by our original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich.

Guests told us they wanted to add more vegetables into their diets, and they wanted a plant-forward entrée that tasted uniquely Chick-fil-A. Our new sandwich is made with the highest quality ingredients and whole vegetables, and we hope it offers customers another reason to dine at Chick-fil-A.

Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A, said

But plant-based alternatives have not been fairing very well with American consumers. Last year McDonald’s pulled the plug on Beyond Meat’s plant based burger served at select locations due to low sales, with a JP Morgan investor calling the company “McDone.” Since then company’s sales, along with some others, have nosedived as the consumers have made their decisions.

However, Chick-fil-A is touted as being a Christian-based company and is very trendy amongst Christian circles, with drive-thrus habitually snaking out into the streets due to such high demand for their food.

Last year the National Association Of Evangelicals put out an official statement urging members to do things to help turn the tide of climate change, one of those things being to eat less meat.

Moreover, a recent survey of Christians of all denominations found that nearly 40% of them would be open to eating lab-grown meat alternatives that look and tasted exactly as the real thing, and the price point is cheaper.

[1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; [3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

It will be interesting to see how this one fares. The plant-based garbage at Mickey-D’s failed miserably, but now at a convenient time Chick-fil-A is there to fill the void. I think a decent number of people will try it out at first for a couple weeks, and then after that sales will drop. Most people don’t like cauliflower as is, so I don’t see how people will spring for this.

But, the fandom and idolatry over pro-LGTBQIA+ Chick-fil-A – the hip and trendy restaurant for all goodie-goodie Evangelicals and Baptists – NEVER ceases to amaze me; and this very well could take off, but I am doubtful.

When the company says that it took them over 4 years to make this, it means they went through SOOOO many chemicals, fake flavors, dyes, and preservatives to make this somewhat edible and emulate their normal chicken sandwich.

I have not eaten at fast food joints of any kind in many years, but I remember that Chick-fil-A was immensely overpriced for what you got.

  • Chik-Fil-A is a demographic for as you said, those goodie-goodie evangelicals and baptists, like they’re so holy and saintly because they ate at a fast food joint aimed at professing Christians. Its a marketing ploy.
They even call it “God’s chicken” which I find blasphemous and sacrilegious.

  • I’m not fond of their chicken, but I do like cauliflower so I’d try it. I’ve made cauliflower pizza crust and if done right is pretty good. All that said, will it be real cauliflower or some fake crap.

  • Cauliflower is a very healthful food. I realize that ‘Samaritan’ fast food isn’t optimal or the choice of all….but we seem to have come to a place of extremes, both forms of asceticism, in which there is no place at all left for tolerance, patient teaching, explanation, reasoning from the scriptures.

It’s just a sad commentary on our times that you’re damned if ye do and damned if ye don’t, folks devouring one another…..rather than simply being able to state your piece, your reason for the choices you make as an adult & in maturity (short of compromising the distinctives of the Gospel & word), & to separate for the sake of peace. Neither ‘side’ attempting to impose their choice on the other, or to pit self-righteousness against self-righteousness, taking the nicolaitan high ground.

Nothing wrong with reporting this, or coming to a personal decision & conviction concerning it, but beyond that, cauliflower openly substituted for chicken, not even entirely vegan in denial of evident truth or God’s design, nor hidden, nor imposed upon anyone hardly seems something John the Baptist would have majored on preaching as he prepared the way of the Lord, or Paul as he took out the Gospel. John urging instead repentance, humility, a return to the word of God to those who were privileged to be entrusted with it….and Paul giving counsel to those taking out the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ according to the scriptures, but without the deeds of the Law included.

Now, if they dissemble & lie about it…that’s another matter, and further light would need shown in, especially since they profess Christ. Then all involved would need to heed conviction, but we’re talking a business of the world, after all, not a church. It’s now illegal for any business to be run on Christian terms, & that’s been increasingly so since 1913, the resulting world wars, ‘Depression’, FDR’s ‘reforms’, and the ’60’s transforming the United States & circumventing all of our Bill of Rights protections in the name of preserving them!

The issues come in when men try conflicting & marrying the two as with the 501c3 traps falling back to Romanism with its fascist public private mighty man stuff, or ascetic ritual communist harlot stuff, pretending to be Jews in a theocracy, & which uniting bear such awful tyrannical & seductive antichrist fruit which grew & loomed ever larger underground ….like the submerged part of an iceberg until it can no longer be bound or concealed. Leviathan….the beast that’s supposed to be chained by law & vigilance on the part of the citizenry.

John actually DID eat bugs & honey, but nowhere do we see him demanding that of others, nor Jesus, & the dietary laws were set aside in Acts 10&11 KJB.

Much additional edification & guidance is given us on the matter in the epistles, & while none of us want such things to be imposed upon us, few seem to consider that it may be a humbling judgment & consequence of the Lord to try ALL of us who have the word of God & name the name. Sort of like the Roman tyranny set over the Jews, and to see if they would yet obey, even sacrificially. And, even before that….when he left Philistines & people of the land to try them. We have Romans 9-11 KJB to remind us we’re not above them.

The demands of regulation and the ‘goodie-goodies’ ….the self-righteous…the legalism…of either ‘side’ of the manipulated ‘food wars’ (and every other contrived & crafted ‘war’ setting people against one another….excluding truth & the word of God) make it very difficult to impossible to make an honest living at all in this fallen wicked world. However humble that living might be, and we live in trying, perilous times as it is.

Even some poor slob choosing to pay his way & get his start at some minimum wage job in ‘fast food’ where he….or she….is the least likely to be molested or openly exploited as in so many other occupations or businesses comes under attack? Sure, and it’s best & wisest to get out entirely & be your own boss etc….but are we encouraging disrespect of parents & all authority, even with discernment? Do we forget where we were when God so mercifully saved us, & how little we understood of the bigger picture while God’s word & Spirit informed us? Are we judging unrighteous judgment & beyond the bounds that can honestly be justified & excused biblically….giving excuse to those who blaspheme?

I don’t think the Lord will honor any such tyranny in the end, & the ground truly is level at the foot of the cross. Isaiah 65, & there’s no room for any of us to boast if we’re truly honest. We’re bought with a price. Without merit. And, it’s a war. Not just against what’s ‘out there’, but against our own flesh, as well. It’s so easy to get puffed up or too big for our britches, presuming.
