The Chinese surveillance balloon story continues to add new chapters each day, with tensions between the U.S. and China increasing, and now NATO allies are starting to get involved and raise awareness concerning these balloons.
Yesterday U.S. officials are now claiming that this balloon was just one of a much larger fleet of balloons sent out to surveil different countries.
We already shared information with dozens of countries around the world, both from Washington and through our embassies.
We’re doing so because the United States was not the only target of this broader program, which has violated the sovereignty of countries across five continents.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during a joint press conference with NATO leaders
Biden’s Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also reaffirmed at a separate time that this balloon that was shot down was part of a “fleet,” the International Business Times reported.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg also added while at the press conference, saying that the Russia-Ukraine conflict could greatly be foreshadowing for what will happen with China and Taiwan.
The Chinese balloon over the United States confirms a pattern of Chinese behavior where we see that China over the last years has invested heavily in new military capabilities.
We’ve also seen increased Chinese intelligence activities in Europe. They use satellites, they use cyber and, as we’ve seen over the United States, also balloons. So we just have to be vigilant.
What happens in Europe today could happen in Asia tomorrow.

As of today, the new narrative according to U.S. officials is that the purported spy balloon “was capable of conducting signals intelligence collection operations” and was part of a fleet that had flown over “more than 40 countries across five continents,” according to a senior State Department official.
We know the PRC used these balloons for surveillance. High resolution imagery from U-2 flybys revealed that the high-altitude balloon was capable of conducting signals intelligence collection operations.

CNN reports: ‘The FBI has started its initial stages of evaluating the pieces of the balloon that were recovered and brought to the FBI lab in Quantico, Virginia for analysis, senior FBI officials said Thursday.’
‘Only evidence that was on the surface of the ocean has been delivered to FBI analysts so far, one official said, which includes the “canopy itself, the wiring, and then a very small amount of electronics.” The official said analysts have not yet seen the “payload,” which is where you would expect to see the “lion’s share” of electronics,’ CNN added.
CNN further notes that early hearings this morning at Capitol Hill were both tense and mixed, with some Republicans blasting the administration for its incompetence, while others defending Biden and the Pentagon’s response.
U.S. officials are reportedly also considering some potential sanctions levied against China, staunchly convinced that these this was a surveillance balloon that violated U.S. sovereignty and international law by entering the country’s airspace.
But China is becoming growingly frustrated with the United States’ lack of cooperation and understanding.
Chinese officials continue to insist this was just a common weather balloon unrelated to their military and government that had unfortunately wondered off course.
This morning Chinese officials said that they turned down a phone call with the U.S. concerning the balloon, saying that the U.S. is creating an “information war.”
South China Morning Post reported wrote, ‘Chinese defense ministry spokesman Tan Kefei said on Thursday that the US proposed that the defense ministers of both countries have a phone call to talk over the incident, but the US insisted on using force to attack the balloon, “which seriously violates international practice and sets a bad precedent.”‘
Given that this irresponsible and seriously erroneous approach by the US did not create a proper atmosphere for dialogue and exchanges between the two militaries, China did not accept the US proposal on the phone call between the two defense ministers.

Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning once again asserted that this was just a civilian balloon that went off course and nothing more, clapping back and pointing out the hypocrisy of the U.S. and their well-known surveillance tactics.
It is irresponsible for the US to overreact and abuse force, disregarding China’s repeated explanations and communications.
The US claims that the balloon is part of the so-called aircraft fleet. I don’t know about it. I think it may be part of the US information war against China.
It’s clear to the international community who is the world’s largest spy monitoring and surveillance country.
Ms. Ning added
Japan is also getting involved with these balloon investigations, such as digging deeper into analyzing ‘balloon-like’ objects that have flown over the nation in previous years, namely that of 2020-2021.
Ning responded to the Japanese statements and said that “the Japanese side should uphold an objective and fair position instead of following the U.S. hype.”
But the U.S. and other allied forces are apparently not buying it and are already ramping up for war.

While the fallout continues the United States carried out air drills with Britain and Australia, to simulate high in-combat operations against Chinese fighter planes.

Reuters confirmed these drills yesterday, with some of their journalists sent to observe the actions performed in the Nevada desert on Wednesday. The drills are also being performed elsewhere, which are ‘part of an effort to simulate high-end combat operations against Chinese fighter aircraft and air defenses,’ Reuters says.
‘Reuters accompanied British forces for several hours during the US-hosted, three-week-long Red Flag exercises aboard Britain’s KC-2 Voyager refueling tanker aircraft, which on Wednesday supplied fuel for US and British fighter jets,’ the outlet wrote.
However, U.S. Air Force Colonel Jared J Hutchinson, commander of the 414th Combat Training Squadron that runs Red Flag, says that these annual drills are not tied to any recent events.
[China is] just the pacing challenge that we train to so that we’re ready… We think that if we’re ready for China, we’re ready for anybody. Hutchinson said
The drills reportedly were to improve inter-operability for the nation’s air forces, and carry-out simulating in-flight refueling missions.
So our role will be to support the force to effectively proceed into the area that’s been occupied and to undertake targeting of key assets to allow us to degrade the enemy’s capabilities.
Lyle said, without mentioning China by name, or identifying what simulated area had been invaded.
Reuters added: ‘Speaking last week in Washington, US Central Intelligence Agency Director William Burns also cautioned the US knew “as a matter of intelligence” that Xi had ordered his military to be ready to conduct an invasion of self-governed Taiwan by 2027.’
Now, that does not mean that he’s decided to conduct an invasion in 2027, or any other year, but it’s a reminder of the seriousness of his focus and his ambition.
Burns told an event at Georgetown University in Washington.
But others in the Air Force believe that the U.S. will be at war with China by 2025, as reported by The WinePress.

But China, allow with Russia, of all nations, are the last countries you’d want to poke and prod at; especially with China and Russia openly saying they are going to lead the new world order together.
