After constant funding and media hype for it, lab-grown, cell-cultured meats formed and fermented in a giant vat is primed to finally make its way to restaurant menus in the U.S.
In November of 2022 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the nation’s first-ever lab-grown product by Upside Foods, saying that their product line is safe for human consumption, and that that move would establish a new precedent for many other identical companies to earn that same clearance.

Since then high-end chefs like Argentine Francis Mallmann and Spaniard José Andrés have agreed to showcase these meats at their restaurants, according to a recent Reuters report. Executives with Upside believe they can get their product in grocery stores by 2028, which is still a bit of a ways off, they told Reuters. ‘UPSIDE still needs to be inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service and get sign-off from the agency on its labels,’ Reuters says, but notes that the USDA has not acknowledged when these inspections would take place.
However, in order to reach and maintain shelf space in the grocery store, 5 major executives in the industry told Reuters that they will need to raise much more capital to produce more products, thereby reducing the overall price. They must also spend a fair amount of money in marketing to convince the masses to eat their faux meats.
Reporters with Reuters visited Upside’s facility in Emeryville, California, witnessing ‘lab coat-clad workers were seen poring over touch screens and monitoring giant vats of water mixed with nutrients.’ Reporters were also fed some samples, to which they purportedly said it tastes like ‘just like conventional chicken when cooked, though was somewhat thinner and had a more uniform tan color when raw.’
But other investors and executives told Reuters their biggest hurdle is convincing Americans to make the switch. Unlike plant-based solutions like Beyond Meat, lab-grown meat companies can legally make the claim, for now, that what they sell is real meat.
Probably the single biggest thing we’ve learned is that people really love meat. They’re probably not going to eat a whole lot less of it.
You’ve got to be transparent about it, but in a way that’s still appetizing.

‘UPSIDE Foods and GOOD Meat plan to whet American palates by releasing their products at high-end restaurants first once approved, they told Reuters, betting that consumers there will tolerate a higher price point and have a good first impression of their meat,’ Reuters wrote.
Other nations are already a little ahead of the game in some respects.
Last year the United Kingdom opened what is being touted as the “largest cultivated meat plant in Europe.” The Netherlands’ government has also been directly funding this industry as well. The same can be said for Israel as well.
Singapore also become the first nation to sell cell-cultured chicken grown in a vat at restaurants in March of 2022.

It may be coming to restaurants this year, but who’s going to actually buy and eat this slop? Beyond Meat and other plant-based meat companies are hemorrhaging cash right now because people simply don’t want them, compared to the real thing.
This will be another cute experiment for a while as the media continues to shill for them, but I don’t see this lasting long, in America that is.
Will some of this crap be here when 2030 rolls around? Probably, but I still think a major goal is to actually normalize cannibalism instead, and try to pretty that up somehow.

[8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

Lab grown meats? Not on my plate, not on my bun, not in my taco, and not in my chili!
When the time of Jacob’s trouble comes about, they’ll be eating this fake meat slime on a shingle because the famine (third seal – black horse) will be worldwide and inescapable.
Oh, the magic & craft of merchandising… This is the end of suffering it without pushback from the public preaching of the word by the faithful.
