“Because of our serious duty to protect the private data of South Dakota citizens, we must take this action immediately.”

Last week South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem signed an executive order that prohibited the use of downloading the popular app TikTok, an app that is owned by Chinese company Tencent and is viewed by some as being a national security threat, such President Donald Trump for example.

Tencent also owns and manages apps like WeChat.

The executive order signed on November 29th reads:

[…] No employee or agency of the state of South Dakota shall download or use the TikTok application or visit the TikTok website on government-issued devices, including state-issued cell phones, laptops, or any device capable of internet connectivity.

No person who enters the state of South Dakota, including but not limited to any state agency, commission, or authority and agents thereof, shall download or use the TikTok application or visit the TikTok website on state-owned or state-leased equipment.

Noem added during a press release:

South Dakota will have no part in the intelligence gathering operations of nations who hate us. The Chinese Communist Party uses information that it gathers on TikTok to manipulate the American people, and they gather data off the devices that access the platform.

Because of our serious duty to protect the private data of South Dakota citizens, we must take this action immediately. I hope other states will follow South Dakota’s lead, and Congress should take broader action, as well.

The WinePress has reported on some of TikTok’s admitted detailed biometric data the company collects when users create an account on the platform.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

Proverbs 28:2

While I am certainly not defending TikTok, this is typical Republican hypocrisy. Her and others like Trump that have made made a big stink out of TikTok, will never tell you about the other popular apps that are also Chinese-owned or have large shares of; namely, Reddit, Spotify, Discord, Riot Games, Epic Games, Ubisoft, Roblox, Weibo, Sony, Warner Brothers, and many more.

Noem’s move is no better than social media platforms censoring people. It’s one thing when a private entity censors people, like it or not; but then when the government then prohibits speech then it is something else entirely.

Noem is just another Neo-Con puppet. I reported on her last year where she told people who were at risk of losing their jobs due to Covid vaccine mandates to simply quit and go find another one. How ‘nice’ of you gov’na.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

Proverbs 29:7

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • Tick-tock always seemed so stupid to me, just full of people that are goofing around. Some is just stupid fun, a waste of time watching but otherwise fairly innocent, but much of it is utterly vile. But what’s else is new, most entertainment throughout history has been vile. We went from public fights to the death to public executions, from people risking their lives in stupidly dangerous stunts to now people trying to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon.

Interesting thing about Epic games is that back when they went from simply being the creators of Fortnite to having their own digital store front, there was a lot of gamers out there trying to warn about how the storefront app was Chinese spyware and how it should be avoided at all cost. Epic countered this with free stuff, sales, and offering developers better cuts in comparison to other storefronts like Steam, and sadly these warnings mostly went ignored.

Just one more reason for people to avoid video games, and those involved with them to ween themselves off of them as soon as possible.

History blares out time and again that nothing is free, but people seem to deafen themselves to it’s call.

Those free apps? They’ll be collecting your data to someday be used against you.

That free education? You’ll be indoctrinated to the state.

Free Advice? How much of it has proven wicked or just plain wrong? After all, everyone can give it and most everyone is puffed up in the sin of pride, thinking they know everything when they really know next to nothing in the grand scheme of things.

That fruit in the mist of the garden…you know, the tree of the knowledge of of good and evil? Yeah…how’d that turn out? Granted, I can’t be too hard on Adam and Eve given how much forbidden fruit I’ve eaten in the past, but you get the idea of what I’m saying in the matter. They didn’t have to climb over nine mountains or spend five years wages, all they had to do is take and eat.

That free healthcare? Those doctors will try and kill you on behalf of the wicked.

That five finger discount? How bout the guilt? Oh, and that free orange, yellow, or striped jumpsuit if you get caught?

That free Ice-cream or candy? You’ll never see mommy or daddy again.

Those free drugs? Lifetime of addiction.

That free fornication? Lots of diseases, possibly a pregnancy and even the regret of an abortion if you go that far.

Those free videos on Youtube? How many hours spend in worthless distractions and how many wicked ads did you have to go through just to see them? This applies well to the over the air TV stations as well.

My point is to be very careful when something is offered for free, as the vast majority of the time there is a catch attached to it and you will not like that catch in the slightest.
