Today it was announced that professional women’s basketball player Britney Griner, was arrested while in Russia on drug charges, in exchange for a Russian illegal arms dealer.

President Joe Biden celebrated and touted her release. Griner’s wife also stood with Biden to make the announcement.

People in Houston, where Griner was from, celebrated the release.

The swap was made with a man named Viktor Bout, who would have spent most of the rest of his life in a federal prison.

However, former Marine Paul Whelan was left behind, and has been imprisoned in Russia for years and sentenced to 16 years in jail for espionage.

Whelan’s imprisonment has gone completely uncared for by the Biden administration and the Trump administration as well – as noted in a WinePress report covering negotiations for a prisoner swap earlier this year.

I am greatly disappointed that more has not been done to secure my release, especially as the four-year anniversary of my arrest is coming up. I don’t understand why I’m still sitting here.

I am so glad that Brittney Griner is on her way home. As the family member of a Russian hostage, I can literally only imagine the joy she will have, being reunited with her loved ones, and in time for the holidays.

There is no greater success than for a wrongful detainee to be freed and for them to go home. The Biden Administration made the right decision to bring Ms. Griner home, and to make the deal that was possible, rather than waiting for one that wasn’t going to happen.

Whelan said in a phone interview with CNN from the penal colony where he is being held in a remote part of Russia

For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.

Acts 25:27

Go figure this country would take back a black sodomite and pro-communist who routinely says she hates America…

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • On top of that swapping out for a man who was deemed the “merchant of death” and one of the most dangerous criminals/arms dealer who not only hates Americans but wanted to kill Americans. He is now sent back to Russia and who knows what he will do and evil he will be used for. But here again no one is talking about that. And if they do speak out it will only be once mainstream media talks about it and tells them they should be mad. So I can see this as another way to further ignite the right.

  • Seems to me this is not the first time this government has made these kinds of “sweet deal” swaps……sweet deals for the other side, that is.
