“This is a Russian missile attack on collective security! This is a very significant escalation. We must act,” Zelensky said.

Earlier today officials in Poland reported that an explosion occurred near the Ukrainian border killing two civilians, first believed to be missiles launched by Russia, though it is still unconfirmed at this time.

The explosions occurred in the small town of Przewodów in the Hrubieszów district, which is roughly 3.7 miles for the border of Ukraine, according to Polish outlet Wyborcza.

The Polish publication added: ‘The explosion took place at approx. 15.35 on the premises of one of the companies operating in the former State Agricultural Farm. The explosion was heard in a radius of at least 15 kilometers. According to our information, the explosion occurred right next to the device where the company’s employees weigh the grain. The victims of the blast include a foreman, an employee of the company, and one of the farmers who brought corn there in the afternoon. They both died on the spot. The brick building where the weight was located was completely destroyed.’

‘However, there was no official comment on the cause,’ Notes From Poland added.

Initial reports indicated that it were missiles fired by Russia. This has since prompted Poland’s Army to be high alert. Euro News said that the government has also considered enacting NATO’s Article 4, which, according to NATO means:

The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened.

The Polish government issued a short statement on their website:

On November 15, 2022, another massive shelling of the entire territory of Ukraine and its critical infrastructure, conducted by the armed forces of the Russian Federation, took place for many hours.

At 15:40 in the village of Przewodów in the Hrubieszów poviat in the Lubelskie Voivodship, a Russian-made missile fell, killing two citizens of the Republic of Poland.

In connection with this event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau summoned the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a request to immediately provide detailed explanations.

European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen responded to the news on social media, saying:

Alarmed by reports of an explosion in Poland, following a massive Russian missile strike on Ukrainian cities. I extend my condolences and my strongest message of support and solidarity with Poland and our Ukrainian friends.

We are closely monitoring the situation and are in touch with Polish authorities and partners and allies.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock – who openly has said that she readily reallocate supplies and focus to supporting Ukraine as long as they are needed over her own people – also chimed in on Twitter in both English and Polish:

My thoughts are with Poland, our close ally and neighbor. We are monitoring the situation closely and are in contact with our Polish friends and NATO allies.

And not surprisingly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials responded promptly after the news broke. Zelensky in particular was very quick to say that this was certainly Russia, and NATO allies need to respond swiftly – to which some Twitter users were not on board with the idea, claiming that Zelensky is only goading the West into a full-scale war:

Terror is not limited to our national borders. Russian missiles hit Poland. … To fire missiles at NATO territory. This is a Russian missile attack on collective security! This is a very significant escalation. We must act.

I want to say now to all our Polish brothers and sisters: Ukraine will always support you! Terror will not break free people! Victory is possible when there is no fear! … Russia is terrorizing us and everyone it can reach.

Zelensky said

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba had this to say:

Ukraine reaffirms its full solidarity with Poland and stands ready to provide any necessary support. Collective response to Russian actions must be tough and principled.

Among immediate actions: a NATO summit with Ukraine’s participation to craft further joint actions which will force Russia to change its course on escalation, providing Ukraine with modern aircraft such as F-15 and F-16, as well as air defense systems, so that we can intercept any Russian missiles.

Today, protecting Ukraine’s skies means protecting NATO.

However President Joe Biden contradicted Zelensky’s assertive statements, saying that it is “unlikely” that a Russian missile killed those two civilians.

There is preliminary information that contests that. It is unlikely in the lines of the trajectory that it was fired from Russia, but we’ll see.

I’m going to make sure we find out exactly what happened. And then we’re going to collectively determine our next step as we investigate.

Biden said during an impromptu meeting at the G20 summit

Russian officials have also responded by saying that have not launched an attack of any kind in that area.

The shrapnel and blast “have nothing to do with Russian weapons,” and said this is “a deliberate provocation in order to escalate the situation,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

UPDATE 11/16

The day following the initial scare of the explosion that killed two Polish civilians – Ukrainian officials admit that they were attempting to shootdown Russian missiles reportedly heading to the area, but apparently overshot the target, officials told CNN; but there still is no concrete evidence, but this statement by officials was used to help formulate the initial reports and threat assessments.

The Ukrainian military informed the United States that their air defense system was trying to intercept a missile near the site of the incident in Pszewoduv around the same time, CNN reports, citing an anonymous American official.

The interlocutor of the channel noted that there is no exact information about whether this particular air defense missile really fell in Poland, but it was these data that became the basis for Washington’s current assessment of the situation.

Nevertheless, Polish leaders are attempting to deescalate fears of this cryptic explosion.

This morning they said that this was an “unfortunate accident,” adding that there is limited evidence Russia had anything to do with it. Russia had already stated that they had zero part in that explosion yesterday. The Polish President added that if anything, this purported missile was actually Ukrainian and was from an old Soviet stockpile that Ukraine had already possessed.

From the information that we and our allies have, it was an S-300 rocket made in the Soviet Union, an old rocket and there is no evidence that it was launched by the Russian side.

There is a high probability that the rocket was used by the Ukrainian defence forces.

President Andrzej Duda said in a press conference

But The Independent reports that NATO officials and Zelensky are still frothing at the mouth, adamant that this was Russia’s doing.

We have to remember that this happened as Russia launched a wave of strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure. Russia bears ultimate responsibility as it continues its illegal war against Ukraine.

An investigation is ongoing, and we need to await its outcome, but we have no indication that this was an assault or a deliberate attack. [There is no proof that] Russia is preparing offensive military actions against NATO.

Our preliminary analysis suggests that the incident was likely caused by a Ukrainian defence missile fired to defend (its) territory against Russian cruise missile attacks

NATO’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said

However it should be noted in the midst of all of this, that surface-to-air missiles that would have been used, are designed to explode mid-air if they miss their target to prevent striking the ground.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

Proverbs 20:18

And there ain’t no good advice here, especially with all these chowderheads pretending to run things: they’re all in the same club trying to foment war, especially big nose Zelensky just salivating at the idea of practically igniting World War III.

[1] Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man; [2] Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war. [3] They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah. [4] Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings. [5] The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah. [6] I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD. [7] O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

Psalms 140:1-7

Supporters of The WP know that I have been exposing a lot of the propaganda and false narratives surrounding this conflict, and I have no reason to change in light of these events. But fake or not, these types of actions are enough to generate a response. U.S. troops have stepped foot into Ukraine, so it will not take too much more to trigger the grand poohbah.

As of right now I do not think this will be the trigger event, but ‘they’ are doing everything they can to start it…

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
