Dutch schoolchildren in The Netherlands are now being feed mealworms and other insect-based snacks as a more healthier and “sustainable” replacement for meat.
This is part of a new campaign taking place across hundreds of schools in the country called the ‘Taste Mission Adventurous Proteins’, courtesy of the Dutch Food Week campaign by farmers and horticulturists, according to Dutch outlet RTV Oost.
Other dishes included a variety of other insects and lupine beans.
Some of the students filmed during the news segment squirmed and were trying to swallow the bugs in disgust. But the Dutch outlet framed the experience to have more of a peachy vibe.
After a first hesitation, the students of the Octopus primary school in Zwolle carefully put them in their mouths: mealworms. And as the taste buds get to work on the unfamiliar food, some faces brighten: “It tastes like nuts,” they say.
The school children are today exposed to a new eating experience. Part of a teaching package about healthy and sustainable food. It is a tried and tested means: behavioral changes via the (as yet) uninhibited children. Because, if they appreciate it, then it has a future.

Dutch politician Gert Harm ten Bolscher was also present for the interview, and was all smalls as he coerced the children to try the different buggy snacks.
Earlier this year a large number of famers and protestor squared-off against the government’s mandates that would require farmers to sequester large swaths of their land and euthanize huge portions of their flocks. The news of the protests slowly faded out of media attention.

The governments of the world have to target the children as they are very easy to influence and brainwash, which will then rub-off on the parents down the road. Once the Western economies implode in the times to come, restricting meat consumption will be much easier to control and mitigate.
Even so, judging by the media propaganda, “normalized cannibalism” certainly is coming down the pike as well.
