“You might eat fresh vegetables or fruit that’s been tainted by water that has the bacteria. This happens most often when manure from nearby animals mixes with the water supply,” says WebMD.

Grocery store chain Aldi recently announced that they would be recalling two vegan products exclusive to their chain locations, after several case of E.coli was reported after consumers fell ill.

Eat This, Not That reported, ‘Cuisine Innovations Unlimited, LLC has announced the voluntary recall of its Earth Grown Vegan Traditional Falafel and Earth Grown Garlic & Herb Falafel products due to the possible presence of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli. Both products were sold exclusively at Aldi grocery stores.’

ALDI takes the safety and integrity of the products it sells seriously. If customers have product(s) affected by this voluntary recall, they should discard it immediately or return it to their local store for a full refund.

Aldi said in a statement

Notwithstanding this recall is fascinating indeed considering the nature of E.coli outbreaks.

WebMD says, “E. coli (Escherichia coli), is a type of bacteria that normally lives in your intestines. It’s also found in the gut of some animals.”

The medical website notes that an infection usually comes from things like ground beef: “When meat is processed, sometimes bacteria from the animals’ intestines make their way into the meat. This happens more with ground meat because it comes from more than one animal,” the outlet explained. Furthermore, it can also come from contaminated water. As concerning outbreaks in vegetables, WebMD wrote:

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

While it is admittedly unknown the direct source of the E.coli in the product, it is interesting to note how a mostly animal-derived bacteria found its way into a vegan product. If so, it once again demonstrates the hypocrisy of the vegan diet, culture, and processing. I would assume the contamination came from a factory that also processes meat and dairy items. I guess the vegans have no quarrels over a barbaric meat-eater preparing their snacks?

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
