“As a result, early assessments indicate phosphate production could be down by approximately 200,000-250,000 tonnes, split roughly evenly between the third and fourth quarters of 2022.”

A large fertilizer producer in the United States has been forced to stymie their operations due to damage their facility received from Hurricane Ian.

Based in Florida, fertilizer and phosphate producer Mosaic announced on October 3rd that they would be forced to halt production for several weeks at least.

Significant flooding and high winds were experienced throughout central Florida during the storm, and this caused modest damage to our facilities and to supporting infrastructure.

As a result, early assessments indicate phosphate production could be down by approximately 200,000-250,000 tonnes, split roughly evenly between the third and fourth quarters of 2022. Repairs are expected to be completed over the next 1-2 weeks.

In addition to production impacts, the timing of shipments was also affected by the storm. Phosphates sales volumes in the third quarter are now expected to total 1.60-1.65 million tonnes, as port and rail closures delayed late third quarter shipments to October.

Mosaic plans to provide further updates when it reports third quarter results.

The company said in a press release

The company has since announced they have also gifted $400,000 to different foundations and relief groups, do to help rebuild parts of the state and supply families with necessary goods and services.

According to a facts sheet the company released in May, Mosaic, “In any given year, Mosaic’s North America Phosphate operations accounts for approximately 50 percent of North America farmers’ supply of granular phosphate fertilizer, and 12 percent of the global supply,” the company reports.

The WinePress has reported how the U.S. and the world are being held in the clutches of a massive fertilizer shortage, largely due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict completely messing up supply chains and contracts. Moreover, The WP has noted how fertilizer and food processing companies have been mysteriously burning down this year.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

While this will only be a temporary setback, any little bit right now is not good. Prices of fertilizer and phosphate will only increase. These shortages occurring right now will begin to be truly felt next year.

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Proverbs 10:5

Thus, it is why I have urged readers to have some backstock of supplies ready as the famine really begins to be felt heading into next year. Ignore the gainsayers, specially those who leech off of this platform, and are now actively lying about me, saying, that I teach you have to stock-up for the next seven years and “endure to the end to be saved.” Anyone who tells that I have said that, is a brazen liar, and is to be marked and avoided. These liars will lead you to destruction.

[12] They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine: [13] And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them. [14] Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

Jeremiah 5:12-14

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
