The Plant-based meat industry in the United States continues to hit with turbulent waters, as JBS, the world’s largest processing corporation has decided to suspend their faux meat production in the States.
The WinePress has reported that companies like Beyond Meat are not fairing too well in the U.S. right now, at the grocery store, restaurants, compounded upon the fact their CEO bit another man’s nose during a fight after a football game, not that long ago.
Beyond Meat Continues To Rapidly Lose Sales As Consumers Pass On Fake Meat
Now JBS is shuttering their plant-based division, Planterra. This involves closing the doors on a 189,000-square-foot factory in Denver, Colorado, and mulling another 100 or so jobs.
Less than a month ago Planterra had announced the company was expanding its product line.
AgFunder News provides more details on this closure:
The Planterra shutdown is just the latest piece of evidence that the plant-based meat sector is in the midst of a major struggle. The category’s double-digit growth in 2020 was followed by flattening sales in 2021. Now, sales of plant-based meat are on the decline.
Beyond Meat, Maple Leaf Foods and Conagra-owned Gardein are among the alternative protein companies seeing declines in 2022.
Supply chain commotion and inflation are partly to blame. A recent analysis by Deloitte also suggests there are also consumer-driven reasons at play. The addressable market may be smaller than previously thought, with Deloitte noting that “the portion of the US population open to trying (and repeat buying) it may already have reached a saturation point.”
Consumers are also questioning the benefits of plant-based meat alternatives, especially those around health. Deloitte noted that in 2021, seven in 10 consumers believed plant-based meat was healthier than animal products. This year, the number dropped by eight percentage points.
Even startups developing plant-based meats are calling the sector’s health factor into question; a new crop of companies is prioritizing “clean” ingredients and healthier whole-cut options.
JBS has not said whether shutting down Planterra is in response to all this. A spokesperson for JBS told Food Navigator that the company continues to believe in plant-based options and will “remain committed” to the alt-protein market. JBS will continue its plant-based operations in Brazil and Europe through different brands.
AUTHOR COMMENTARY
I advise caution and wisdom here. Because the plant-based slop is showing what seems to be clear signs of total failure, many people on the so-called “Right” are going to think they are “winning” against the radical Left and globalists. Not so. These are only temporary setbacks. If anything, megacorporations are trying to conserve their cash and not make careless investments: for if (and when) the nation’s economy is finally allowed to implode, and the masses are already indifferent to their products, why would they waste money on it at this time?
Moreover, I have said that I firmly believe the real long-term goal is normalized cannibalism, as the plant-based stuff is more of a speedbump than anything else, though will probably still exist by 2030.
Nevertheless, these current failures are going to make people doubt the prophecies in the King James Bible even more, as they do not have the patience and faithfulness to see the word of God through. The bottom line is, the masses will be forced off of eating meats one way or another, by hook or by crook.
[1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; [3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.1 Timothy 4:1-3
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

The passage says commanding to abstain from meats. They are already doing that, I don’t doubt that the attack on meat will continue, but the scripture itself does not teach that there will be a total elimination of meat.
I don’t believe there will be a total elimination of meat either, but it will be a “rare treat” for the broad masses, especially when 2030 rolls around.
I hope we are gone by 2030 brother
The plant based slop will become a major part of government issued ration in the future war & famine.
The failure of some plant based meat companies suggest that some would be amalgamated with others or become state owned.
They continue to cull chicken & livestock – it’s not stopping.https://www.foodprocessing.com/business-of-food-beverage/international/news/21435933/48-million-chickens-culled-as-bird-flu-impacts-europe
