German media and BMW attempted to make sure the public did not know it was autonomous, while a one-year-old was involved as well.

An autonomous and electric test car manufactured by BMW malfunctioned in Berlin, Germany, and ultimately took a person’s life while injuring nine others in the process.

Police reports say that five people, including a toddler that is 18-months-old, were inside the BMW iX test vehicle during the crash. Reports say the car swerved out of its lane at a bend and collided with traffic, with a total of four vehicles involved, where one of the other vehicles ignited into flames upon impact. The passenger in one of those vehicles died upon impact.

According to Auto Evolution, ‘the car had an “autonomous driving” label that German media was keen on blurring when reporting the news. Unedited images posted on social media showed that the vehicle involved had the sticker. It is unclear whether the test vehicle was driving autonomously at the time of the crash. BMW denied the car involved was fully autonomous.’

Some people on social media suggested that this does not automatically assume the vehicle was driving autonomously, but the stickers are there for legalities, partly to indicate that the car is covered in surveillance cameras.

The vehicle has a level 2 driving assistance system that is already incorporated in production vehicles today and which can support the driver on demand. With level 2 vehicles, the driver always retains responsibility.

BMW said, according to the Associated Press

BMW claims that the car did not have self-driving functionality, though Auto Evolution ponders if this is to cover their rear-ends, especially considering that the German media was not so forthcoming about the blatant autonomous stickers on the car.

Auto Evolution concluded by noting, however, ‘the BMW iX crash happened in an area where BMW’s partner Mobileye is testing its autonomous tech. Even more interesting, the driving assistance software in the BMW iX is developed by Green Hills Software, the same company behind a rabid campaign against the Tesla FSD in the U.S. On the plus side, there was no fire igniting post-crash, which confirms BMW’s electric vehicles are as safe as they can be.’

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

This is not the first time an autonomous vehicle killed someone because the tech completely failed: Tesla’s self-driving functions have claimed the lives of some people.

To me I have a hard time believing that that car was not trialing the autonomous functionality, and it completely glitched-out, but I cannot be dogmatic. The media, the strongarm and face of the governments and corporations, must protect their interests: they want people to go electric and use the self-driving cars, and this, for obvious reasons, will only cause the people to increase their steadfastness in not voluntarily converting so readily.

For the wages of sin is death […]Romans 6:23a

But, this is the price you pay for trying to make everything more convenient, and removing any forms of labor out of people’s lives: the Bible calls this slothfulness and idleness. Because people do not want to be responsible drivers anymore, year-over-year more accidents are created, and therefore auto companies slowly add in all these safety features that are ultimately stripping people from driving the actual car, to the point where the drivers are now getting in accidents because the car overrides their decisions! Observe:

The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

Proverbs 22:13; Ezekiel 16:49

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
