But the Greenies are not happy about this at all, are working to try and get this reversed.

Amidst Germany’s fuel and energy crunch mostly caused by their restrictions levied against Russia, and Russia’s subsequent counter measures, Germany has partially conceded some of their climate goals by announcing they plan to restart a coal plant in attempt increase their energy supplies.

The WinePress has reported on the energy crunch that is effecting Germany the worst, compared to the rest Europe, which is also facing a crunch:

German outlet Frankfurter Neue Presse explains the nation’s most recent move:

As a replacement for electricity from natural gas, the first hard coal-fired power plant from the reserve is about to restart. It is the Mehrum power plant in Hohenhameln, Lower Saxony (Peine district) between Hanover and Braunschweig, which belongs to the Czech energy group EPH. At the request of the German Press Agency , the authority announced that it was the only “market return” of a power plant that had been reported to the Federal Network Agency .

Since July 14, an ordinance has allowed hard coal-fired power plants from the so-called grid reserve to be put back into operation in order to save natural gas. According to the Federal Network Agency, natural gas accounted for 11.2 percent of power generation in June.

A controversy arose within the federal government over the weekend about generating electricity from gas. Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) called for this to be stopped.

We have to work to ensure that the gas crisis is not accompanied by an electricity crisis. Therefore, electricity can no longer be produced with gas, as is still happening.

Said the FDP chairman of the picture on Sunday.

In the direction of the Federal Minister of Economics, Lindner said: “Robert Habeck would have the legal authority to prevent this.” There is much to be said for not shutting down the remaining nuclear power plants, “but to use it until 2024 if necessary.”

Translation: “How things are with our gas supply right now.” The arrow pointing to the severe drop says, “Daily consumption in June.”

A spokesman for Habeck pointed out that a complete abandonment of gas in the electricity sector would lead to the electricity crisis and blackouts.

There are system-relevant gas power plants that have to be supplied with gas. If they don’t get any gas, serious disruptions occur. Unfortunately, that is the reality of the electricity system, which you have to know in order to ensure security of supply.

But where gas can be replaced in electricity generation, it should be replaced – and work on this has long been ongoing.

The Mehrum power plant has been in reserve since the beginning of December 2021, as the commercial manager of the operating company, Kathrin Voelkner, said.

We have declared the return to the electricity market. We assume that we will return to the grid in the short term.

The power plant has a net output of 690 megawatts. In 2018, it generated so much electricity that theoretically more than half a million model households could be supplied with electricity. The Braunschweiger Zeitung had previously reported on the planned return of Mehrum to the electricity market.

The federal government’s ordinance allows electricity to be sold from reserve power plants that are fired with hard coal or oil until the end of April 2023. Starting up again for several months is economically interesting for power plant operators because wholesale electricity prices are currently high. At the same time, there is sufficient hard coal on the world market. The measure is intended to force natural gas out of the electricity market.

The Essen-based energy company Steag also wants to sell more electricity again. Company spokesman Markus Hennes said that they have “firm intentions” to return to the market with 2,300 megawatts of generation capacity. This includes two blocks in Saarland, which are already in reserve, and two more blocks in Saarland and North Rhine-Westphalia, which were supposed to be shut down at the end of October. Steag still sees hurdles in the financial security of the large coal reserves, which must be available according to the Replacement Power Plant Availability Act (EKBG), and in transport logistics. The capacities on ship and rail are currently limited.

The Düsseldorf-based energy company Uniper is also examining the return of its reserve systems with a total output of more than 2000 megawatts to the market. But no decision has been made yet, said spokesman Oliver Roeder.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to say when a decision will be made at the moment, since there are still technical, organizational and business problems to be solved.

These climate goals I often reference in my work, are mostly being implemented acutely in the short term, even though they are touted as being long-term and sustainable goals. What they are designed to do is destroy the nations and ruin them financially, structurally, politically, and societally. When I began to really start detailing these goals well over a year ago, I noted how the energy and big oil companies are not going to let go of their monopolies and control.

Many of these same climate agendas will come to pass in some form, but the reduction of “dirty energy” will hardly reduce. This is why the governments around the world are trying to push nuclear and other heavy metal concoctions as a replacement. Howbeit, if your brain has not yet rotted away from all the nuclear RADIATION POISONING, then you should know just how terrible nuclear is for the environment. Moreover, the solar panels, wind turbines, and other electrical components, are produced by using dirty energy and fossil fuels.

  • Wow thank you for pointing out the solar panels produced using dirty energy I did not know that.

I have been seeing that solar panels are not as great for the environment either since it has lithium in it and I recently watched a documentary in Chile where a local and indigenous scientist woman shows just how bad and evil it is. Not at all green energy. People are being fooled because they don’t study before buying anything now a days.

    A quote from the link

“ Chile is the second-largest producer of lithium, a critical component of the batteries that power electric vehicles, smart devices, renewable power plants, and other technologies helping the world transition away from fossil fuels. The metal can be extracted in three ways: from hard rock, which is common in Australia; from sedimentary rock, a process currently under development in the U.S. Southwest; and through the evaporation of brines found beneath salt flats on South America’s Atacama Plateau. The latter method is by far the most water-intensive. Miners pump salty lithium-containing water, called brine, into massive ponds, where it can take years for the evaporation process to separate the lithium. The technique drains already scarce water resources, damages wetlands, and harms communities. ”

No wonder there is so much drought happening. I heard Elon musk’s father say he would rather drive a Honda car than a Tesla.

    • This is eye opening since I live in that region in the US. No wonder for sure.
