The “millirobot,” as it is has been dubbed, can potentially replace conventional treatments like pills or intravenous injections (vaccination). Powered by magnets, the tiny robots can carry preloaded medications and be delivered to an infection, tumor, blood clotting site.
The robot “reaches the target and then releases a high-concentration drug,” Dr. Ruike Zhao said, as it self-propels itself “elegantly and speedily” over organ’s slick, uneven surfaces, and through other bodily fluids.
We started looking at how all these work in parallel. This is a very unique point of this work, and it also has broad potential application in the biomedical field.
