The Department of Energy estimates that the new rules will help users save $3billion every year.

The following report is from The Independent:

The Biden administration has adopted two new rules on light bulb efficiency this week that spell the end of traditional incandescent bulbs.

The action will undo Trump-era guidelines on the bulbs, and go into effect this summer with full enforcement next year.

The Department of Energy estimates that the new rules will help users save $3billion every year.

The energy department also estimates that the rules will prevent the equivalent of 222 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over 30 years. The US currently emits the equivalent of approximately 6 billion metric tons of CO2 annually.

In 2007, President George W Bush signed the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, which started to phase out many incandescent bulbs by 2012. These bulbs can be replaced by LED and compact fluorescent bulbs, which are much more energy efficient.

But the law exempted some special incandescents, such as those shaped like candle flames and so-called three-way bulbs that can emit light at three different brightness levels.

In January 2017, the Obama administration expanded the definition of the light bulbs regulated under the 2007 law to include these specialty bulbs. The rule would have gone into effect in 2020 — except the Trump administration rescinded the new definitions in 2019.

President Trump had expressed his disapointment with the ban on incandescents, including claiming that newer bulbs are more expensive and don’t “make you look as good.”

The rules issued this week by the Biden administration restores the 2017 parameters and ban the sale of any of these bulbs that don’t get at least 45 lumens per watt – a determination of how much light a bulb emits per unit of electricity used.

Conventional incandescent and halogen (a form of incandescent) bulbs get around 15-20 lumens per watt, placing them below the threshold. Similar LED bulbs, on the other hand, can often get often get upwards of 80 lumens per watt.

With less wattage needed to operate the bulbs, these more efficient bulbs can lead to lower electricity bill costs and fewer emissions from electricity generation. In addition, as the Department of Energy points out in their announcement of the new rules, LED bulbs last much longer than traditional incandescents.

LED bulbs are also now available in many different light colours, ranging from blue-ish and bright “daylight” bulbs to much dimmer, more yellow bulbs that mimic the appearance of incandescents.

The 2007 law does not ban individuals using or buying non-compliant bulbs, just the sale and manufacture of said bulbs. But as current supplies of incandescents dwindle, sockets across the country will have to switch over to more efficient lighting units.

Per usual, it has nothing to do with carbon: it’s all about control, namely for these smart cities and grids so everything can be more precisely tracked.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • Of course there’s an energy crisis… they’re gonna need a monstrous amount of energy not just for the smart cities, 6g and grids, but also for the AI supercomputers to puppet pretty much everything and… everyone who takes the mark. Have you seen how thick those wires are that run to those 5g GWEN towers in comparison to the size of your standard power lines? And you gotta love how they try to hide some of the towers by trying to make them look like trees.

“What does Tupelo, Mississippi have in common with the world’s largest supercomputer?…

The point: supercomputers and their whopping intelligence might be able to save the world (or destroy it, depending on one’s view), but as their performance continues to muscle up, their power requirements are equating to that of a small city.”

    • Well, maybe it IS a little bit about energy: so they can use more by stealing your share! I didn’t realize that about the super computers, though I’ve known for a long time that ‘green’ and ‘sustainable’ were just buzzwords for dupes used by the tyrants for massive power grab. Thanks, Rahab. (Did you know that Rahab was named for a dragon-serpent thing that the peoples worshipped, including those of Jericho? There’s something about that serpent that was more subtil than any beast of the field that the LORD God had made in Genesis 3, and the sea & flying creatures of day 5 of the creation week linked with all of that & the MYSTERY religions, but the Lord hasn’t shown it to me yet, other than hints throughout scripture: like with whales which weren’t just made, but created, & the connection to Pharoah & Jonah & death. The King James translators were careful to distinguish between ‘made’ & ‘created’ according to the different Hebrew words, & we can count on it not just being a random thing. I’m thinking it also has to do with the ritual prostitution they practiced, more to do with MYSTERY religion, & probably the corruption of Genesis 6 & coming trials & deceptions. )
God’s word is amazing, and so bolsters our hope & faith, guiding & sustaining …lighting…us through these dark days & darker ones coming if the Lord tarries. John 1 and Psalm 103 …& with that a little burst of energy & hope to deal with practical matters & full spectrum white light …. God bless.

  • That’s not about energy: it’s about using depressing blue light & such that messes with your natural God-created system relating to light & darkness. GRRR. Thinking about investing in some Amish lighting, at least for in the winter time, since they put off some heat & fumes…have to crack windows & use appropriate precautions. Blue light has a host of health issues that mess with mood, rest etc….and remember when they tried to get us to use mercury bulbs? Break a lightbulb & have to call a hazmat cleanup while risking poisoning & insanity. Such ‘nice’ people.

Sky-lights are wise, too….and, vented ones ideal…but we can’t have everything. That was the principle in the high ceilings & tall windows in old farmhouses & such that opened top & bottom, as well as those vent windows above the old entryway doors ….so you could draw cool air in the lower one at night, while the hotter air rising would exit the top.

You can get a similar effect with smaller roof tubes lined with reflective metal. In third world countries, I saw missionaries teaching them how to cut holes in metal roofs & use glass or plastic bottles with seals to let in natural light, & to deal with uncertain power availability, save on running generators etc. Settlers used to paint the inside of their dark cabins or sod houses with a lime white wash to aid them getting through the darkness of winter, & used greased skins & linings stretched across openings to let some light in & fewer bugs in summer….guess we could use the light paint idea & drape our windows appropriately for light or shade….but the skin thing is probably safe to leave in the past!!

I think the Lord is going to show a lot of us how the oldtimers who put far more stock in substance & the state of one’s soul than in fleshly vanities & appearances. Simplicity time. Trying to figure a way to do a screen tent on deck or anywhere outside for extending natural light & fresh air time in the summer with a bit of privacy & bug protection. Inexpensive coping. This lights a fire under it for sure.
