Yesterday the U.S. unanimously voted 100-0 – all Republicans and Democrats from all 50 states – for a package that codifies an end of normal trade with Russia, and one of the neighboring allies, Belarus; additionally barring Russian imports on oil to the states.

The first bill, H.R.7108 – “Suspending Normal Trade Relations with Russia and Belarus Act,” permanently restricts normal trade relations with these two nations. And, The Hill reports that sanctions per the Magnitsky Act are reauthorized, which ‘target human rights violations and corruption with penalties like visa bans or asset freezes.’

The second bill, H.R.6968 – “Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act,” also unanimously passed, solidifying the Biden administration’s order to ban Russian oil.

RollCall reports that while not completely unanimous, the House of Representatives voted 420-3 and 413-9 for both bills.

Both bills have been presented to President Biden, and await his signature.

The outcome will result in higher tariffs to products hailing from Russia and Belarus. Previously, North Korea and Cuba were the only other two nations that were denied trade relations by America.

No nation whose military is committing war crimes deserves free-trade status with the United States. No vile thug like Putin deserves to stand as an equal with the leaders of the free world.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said, prior to voting

As the world bears witness to the most serious security threat to Europe and our global stability since World War II, this legislation to speed up the process of moving military equipment to the front lines couldn’t be more urgent.

I appreciate the bipartisan support to pass our legislation in the Senate and urge the House to swiftly follow suit. As this crisis rapidly escalates and Putin bears down on Ukraine, every minute counts.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), said of the bill

‘House Ways and Means Chair Richard E. Neal, D-Mass., and ranking member Kevin Brady, R-Texas, said the bills would deliver a one-two blow to Russia,’ HouseCall also noted. Neal also said these moves will “send a message to a dictator in Russia.”

RollCall further notes, ‘In March, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., blocked votes on the bills, arguing that the House language was so broad that the U.S. could decide to impose sanctions for anti-abortion policies or for policies that did not support gay or transgender rights.’

Schumer praised Senate Finance Committee ranking member Michael D. Crapo, R-Idaho, and members of the Senate,

Who worked in good faith with us together, and we wouldn’t have reached this outcome without his diligence and good faith.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Ecclesiastes 5:8

Are you surprised? I am not. This is another repeat of the Covid legislation that was shoveled through the fire in 2020, and thereafter, because it was a “crisis.” It’s the same old song and dance, ladies and germs.

Regular readers know that I have been saying forever it seems, that your vote is totally irrelevant, and these scumbags once again proved beyond a shadow of a doubt whom they REALLY serve: the bankers and corporations, as all modern wars are banker wars. Forget all the political fanfare, soap opera drama, delays, and circus tent stunts: actions speak louder than words.

So, for all you “patriots” out there: still think the likes of Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and other sellouts, are working for you?

Here in the states, the elections are coming up again in a few weeks. So, lest you get sucked in by a bunch of fickle halfwhits – who no doubt will be “voting for the lesser of two evils,” and straight-ticket all their candidates without even so much as learning their names and what they truly stand for – kindly remind those slaves of Uncle Sam of articles like this, and then some. To me, if the actions of all politicians in the federal and state levels, were not obvious enough for you per their reactions in 2020 and onward, then you are just suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

In short, these petty restrictions will only hurt Americans, while Russia laughs.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
