The last The WinePress reported on these American trucker protests was on February 23rd, where many truckers were expected to converge on the Capital before and after President Biden’s State of the Union address, which saw Capital security ramped back up with the National Guard being deployed.
What made things, at times, a bit confusing was the fact that there were reports of multiple convoys making the trek to the Capital: some a bit more “extreme,” for lack of a better term, compared to other groups. The video below depicts one of the leaders of one convoy that explicitly said their convoy was going to practically cutoff everything, shutdown roads, and prevent people from going to work, and leaving open a single lane for emergency crews to pass through.
However, leading up to the State of the Union address on March 1st, before or after, there were no signs of much anything.
Moreover, other smaller convoys were could not get off the ground running. The Independent reported on the 28th that one of the groups disbanded.
Nevertheless, some trucker groups have been in D.C. for over a week now. But their version of protests have been simply to drive around in a circle in and on the outskirts of the District of Colombia, occasionally meeting up at certain rest stops to make some speeches.
One trucker apart of these protests has, with the YouTube handle “Sasnak,” been livestreaming these daily exploits and caravans each day, providing a firsthand glimpse into what is going on.
On top of this, Texas Senator Ted Cruz paid the truckers on the 11th and some quick speeches, and rode along with some of the truckers for a time.
More recently, the Associated Press reported how the trucker protest is just causing congestion on the highways, and a traffic advisory was enacted. They wrote:
Hundreds of truckers and other motorists who have been doing rolling protests on highways encircling Washington made their way into the nation’s capital Monday, snarling already-congested traffic in a demonstration against COVID-19 mandates and other grievances.
The DC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency issued a traffic advisory shortly before 2 p.m. that suggested motorists delay travel or use alternative transportation “due to ongoing demonstration activity on I-395, I-695, and I-295.”
The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department closed a number of streets and exits off the highways to prevent the protesters from coming into the city. “These rolling road closures are occurring in real-time as they are needed,” the announcement said.
The protesters, separated intermittently by the usual congested traffic, waved flags and blew their horns as they drove. When asked why they had come to protest, one unidentified couple with Montana license plates answered “freedom.”
Area residents took to the police department’s Twitter with a number of the comments holding city officials and the police responsible for the traffic gridlock by shutting down the exits.
Authorities sent out a second advisory about two-and-a-half hours later announcing the demonstration had ended and the freeway exits were being reopened.
The truckers, some from as far away as California and Montana, have been in the area more than a week driving from Hagerstown, Maryland, to the beltway surrounding Washington to protest COVID-19 vaccine mandates as well as voice frustration for other grievances.
Furthermore, left-leaning outlet the Daily Kos, said on March 7th, the protestors ‘plan to keep doing it, they say, until their “message” is heard—though it’s hard to tell exactly what that message is.’
The outlet wrote, ‘The ostensible cause behind the convoy protest originally was similar to the one deployed in Canada, where a group of truckers managed to shut down Ottawa’s downtown for three weeks—namely, COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and mandates. They call these measures infringements on their freedoms.’
‘The problem is that most of these restrictions have already been rescinded or blocked in the courts on the federal level, and on the local and state levels are in the process of ending. So protesters have been saying that what they’re really about is “taking back our freedom,” or other standard Patriot movement conspiracist cant,’ they added.
The outlet additionally noted that most people did not even notice the protest, as the normal traffic and congestion of the daily commuters unintentionally separated the convoy up on multiple occasions.
‘Another participant, interviewed by videographer Ford Fischer, was dressed in chain mail armor and wearing both a Knights Templar symbol—favored by Christian nationalists—as well as a shirt decorated with the Celtic crosses popular with neo-Nazis. “Yeah, I believe this is a people’s Crusade,” he said. “It’s a crusade in that people have to fight the evil in the world, man. … People have to band together and fight on the side of the Lord. You know, God wills it, man,”‘ Daily Kos also noted.
Howbeit, Life Site News, reporting on the other end of the spectrum, reported on the 8th: ‘The American truckers’ People’s Convoy has come to nation’s capital to demand an end to the state of emergency declared by the federal government at the start of the COVID pandemic two years ago.’
This convoy is about freedom and unity. The truckers are riding unified across party and state lines and with people of all colors and creeds.
We’re going to end the vaccine mandates. We’re going to end the state of emergency.
According to a press release from the truckers, and a statement from a participant
The Economic Ninja also reported on potential concerns that may be wrought because of these demonstrations, such as higher fuel prices, and potential supply chain disruptions as well, or at least be possibly blamed on.

It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.
Proverbs 20:3, 26:17
I hate to say it, but I have to agree with the leftist outlet. I could not tell you what in the world these people are protesting, not to mention the fact you have to seriously dig for some reports on this, because no one knows, and no one cares. Occasionally the mainstream media floats it out there, but that is it.
No one gives a crap, unfortunately, and these demonstrations are literally doing nothing but bottle-necking traffic. These guys and gals didn’t get the memo: the Covid war is on the backburner, now it’s Russia-Ukraine. Regulars of The WP know that the Covid war is quietly coming back, but right now, it’s still mostly out of the news relative to what it once was.
Would it not be ironic when these protests, or whatever this demonstration is, finally dissipates, the mandates really come back? Just a thought.
If anything, what this demonstrates is another example of the “ignite the right” push, something The WP has covered before; as that comment about the “crusade” in this article is rather telling.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

I was really starting to forget about it. It literally only comes to our attention only when the media reports on it indeed. They are there in vain.
I forgot all about it.
