“Now I’m not going to pretend to you that I got out each day and I buy a loaf of bread, and I buy a litre of milk. I’m not going to pretend to you that I do that. And I’ll leave those sort of those things to you, mate. “

The 30th and current Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison was hammered by the media and press reporters today, as the Australian election approaches. But after what transpired today, Sky News says the “next election all but unwinnable” for him.

Morrison answered questions at the National Press Club address, and three of them gathered the most attention at the conference.

The first , an effective demand that he apologize for all his stuff-ups, was mean but also predictable and Morrison should have had a pat response better than the mild self-flagellation he offered,’ Sky News wrote.

Jumping to the third one, and the most repeated factoid and “bombshell” in Australian media, was how the press obtained text messages showing how former New South Premier Gladys Berejiklian says Morrison is a “horrible person” and untrustworthy.

But The WinePress is not interested in the political soap opera of corrupt leaders all calling each other psycho.

One of the reporters in the crowd asked Morrison about the costs of food and other necessities such as fuel, referring to rising inflation costs.

Reporter: And on that theme, off the top of your head, can you tell me the price of a loaf bread, a litre of petrol, and a rapid antigen test?

Morrison: Now I’m not going to pretend to you that I go out each day and I buy a loaf of bread, and I buy a litre of milk.

I’m not going to pretend to you that I do that. And I’ll leave those sort of those things to you, mate.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

Proverbs 17:5, 29:7

This is a prime example of the old saying, “Let them eat cake!”

“Let them eat cake” is the traditional translation of the French phrase “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche”, said to have been spoken in the 17th or 18th century by “a great princess” upon being told that the peasants had no bread. The French phrase mentions brioche, a bread enriched with butter and eggs, considered a luxury food. The quote is taken to reflect either the princess’s frivolous disregard for the starving peasants or her poor understanding of their plight.

I think it goes without saying that not a single one of these scumbags cares about you Aussies. They view you as useless eaters. But I don’t think I need to remind you of such.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
