The additional shots on order will provide room “for the possibility of extra booster rounds in the second quarter and the fall of 2022, and in 2023.”

The Cabinet for the Dutch government announced today that they will be rolling out three more Covid vaccines for their inoculation cycle, on top of the current three shot regime in place.

It is assumed, according to the NL Times, that three more shots will be required throughout 2022, and a fourth in 2023, bringing the total to six shots in the current queue.

[It is] not easy since we have to take into account a large number of variables, some of which are as-yet unknown. The Cabinet is therefore opting for certainty to the extent it is possible.

Health Minister Hugo de Jonge wrote about trying to ‘map out’ the number of boosters that will be needed

‘The Netherlands is stocking up on almost 6 million extra Covid-19 vaccines for those possible additional booster rounds. The vaccine doses, like 12 million previously ordered vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech, may already have been adapted for the Omicron variant,’ says the NL Times.

In his statement, de Jonge said that there are “sufficient vaccines for the current booster campaign.” The additional shots on order will provide room “for the possibility of extra booster rounds in the second quarter and the fall of 2022, and in 2023.” De Jonge says the Cabinet is targeting for the highest possible vaccination spread in the nation.

Right now, roughly 3 million booster shots have already been used. The government seeks to give everyone access to a booster shot before the 1st of February. De Jonge believes this goal will be achieved, stating, “The GGD has never let us down.”

Based on current data, The Netherlands has a little over 77% of the population taking at least one vaccination.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Proverbs 29:2

Seeing as the people have already revolted against the endless lockdowns and mandates, I expect to see the protests to get much more wider and larger; as will the government’s and police’s presence.

Stand firm, Dutch brethren, and do not cave.

[1] Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. [2] Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. [3] For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD. [4] They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold. [5] Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah. [6] They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. [7] Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear? [8] But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision. [9] Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence. [10] The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

Psalms 59:1-10

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
