In early November the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) in Maharashtra announced that their employees will be withheld their salaries until get at least one dose of a Covid vaccine, according to Outlook India.
However, when the Omicron panic was unleashed several weeks later, the company then changed their policy that staff must get doubled-jabbed in order to receive a paycheck, according to India.com.
The TMC is the governing body for the city of Thane in the state of Maharashtra.
In an official press release, the government also noted that all civic employees must get vaccinated and submit their inoculation certificates to the respective offices.
The TMC, in a new campaign to rapidly increase the number of people vaccinated, have initiated vaccination stations on wheels to reach more and setting large stationary centers as well.
‘In addition to this, under the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ programme, health employees, ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers and nurses will go door-to-door and collect details of those who have not taken the vaccine. Such people will be given the jabs, the official said,’ reports Outlook India. As of November 9th, 167 teams were created for this purpose.
Even the trash collecting vehicles will now be advertising the message of getting vaccinated.
The schools and universities are also being told to instruct the students on the necessity of being vaccinated, and the centers to get inoculated. The students are then instructed to then relay this information to the parents.
Also, in the state of Maharashtra, authorities in the Aurangabad district have been ordered to impound auto-rickshaw drivers (small taxi-like carts) who have not had a single dose of a vaccine.
If it is found that drivers of autorickshaws have not taken even the first dose of vaccine, the authorities concerned will impound the autorickshaw and impose a fine.

Tour and travel agents are barred from selling tickets to those who are unvaccinated as well.
India.com writes, ‘As per official data, out of the 32,24,677 targeted population in the Aurangabad district, 64.36% of people have received the first dose and 27.78% the second dose till November 22.’

With India being the second most-populated nation in the world, the nation still has lots of holdouts who do not want to be vaccinated. Hundreds of millions have, but there are still large chunks that refuse.
