“Our findings highlight, for the first time, the severe impact of consuming ultra-processed foods on the growing skeleton. This pathology extends far beyond that explained by the known metabolic effects, highlighting bone as a new target for studies of modern diets.”

The following report is from Study Finds:

Junk food warnings typically relate to one’s heart health or risk for obesity, but a new study says munching on processed, sugary snacks poses a serious threat to the bones of growing kids. Researchers say that highly-processed foods can stunt skeletal growth and leave children with weaker bones — even in small amounts.

Tests on mice show that foods with high fat and sugar levels, along with lots of additives, damage growth plates. The plates, made of soft, flexible cartilage, are found at the end of long bones, like those in the arms and legs. As the name suggests, they’re areas of new bone growth in children and teens.

Our conclusion was that even in reduced amounts, the ultra-processed foods can have a definite negative impact on skeletal growth. When Carlos Monteiro, one of the world’s leading experts on nutrition, said that there is no such thing as a healthy ultra-processed food, he was clearly right. Even if we reduce fatscarbs, nitrates, and other known harmful substances, these foods still possess their damaging attributes.

Every part of the body is prone to this damage and certainly those systems that remain in the critical stages of development

While links between obesity and other mental and metabolic diseases on humans of all ages have been shown in previous studies, the researchers wanted to find out more about the possible effects on bones. This is the first comprehensive analysis to focus on how these kinds of foods affect skeletal development.

Around 70% of children’s calories are made up of “ultra-processed” food. These products undergo several stages of processing before being packaged up for kids to scarf down. Previous studies suggest around half of youngsters eat some form of junk food every single day.

So, to make their finding, the research team fed young mice a similar diet. After just six weeks, the rodents showed significant bone weakness and stunted growth in comparison to their counterparts fed a healthier diet.

Our findings highlight, for the first time, the severe impact of consuming ultra-processed foods on the growing skeleton. This pathology extends far beyond that explained by the known metabolic effects, highlighting bone as a new target for studies of modern diets.

[7] Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. [8] It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Proverbs 3:7-8
[3] There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. [4] For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. [5] My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. [6] I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. [7] For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh. [8] I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

Psalms 38:3-8

When you reap to the flesh you will sow corruption (Galatians 6:7-9; Job 4:8). All sin is negative, hence, why the Bible says “the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

  • When I was a teenager, I was deficient in Vitamin D, and my old pediatrician put me on a Multivitamin supplement (2 a day). The Multivitamin supplement did not work, but yet my dad still insisted on me taking it. Should I never been exposed to junk food (mainly candy), I would be better off and a little bit taller. But that’s okay, because I am no taller than 5’9″ (I am definitely over 5’6″) & I am taller than both my parents. Supplements simply don’t work, but rather they are cloaking to mask health problems. Sv3rige/Goatis (I personally don’t agree with him on everything (I certainly believe that eating/drinking blood is a sin), and he advocates for eating raw animal products including eating raw organs and he drinks blood) made a video about this & made a video called The NWO Diet.

  • When I was in middle school, my doctors said I would be 5’11. I wish I had this information years ago so I didn’t put waste in my system (school food, candy, chips, etc.). I’m 18 and 5’5; It would be nice to see how I’d turn out if I was treating my temple right. At this point, only God can heal me; and I pray that he does.

  • I know I have weaker bones in some stance and am to be taller – yet, I do know premature birth, as well as an orphanage, did some damage to my growth and bone structure. I used to be bow-legged, was adopted at almost 3, and most of it fixed itself due to healthy eating. I did eat some junk food growing up but mainly kept to my grandma’s cooking (who was like the true mother).

I was a swimmer up till 8th grade – then did Marching Band and bike-riding till a tear in my ankle had me stop my Junior and Senior year. Plus Archlese tendinitis and knee pain in the same leg would occur after the fact a lot. Had to take it easy when I’d bike ride, needed to keep it slow, and with racquetball – well I stopped doing that after the countless times of injuring my leg playing… I was one who’d play till I’d be about to pass out (bad, indeed).
