According to a report by WSBT 22, the floral industry is doing quite well during all the Coronavirus chaos.

They interviewed Greg Powell, a Mishwaka, Indiana citizen and owner of “Powell the Florist” since 1989.

According to Mr. Powell, he reports that business has increased steadily over the past 5 years, including 2020.

Powell says that this growth in his business is due to the fact that people are not visiting each other as much, especially during holidays and birthdays. In turn, these people are deciding to send more gifts like flowers and bouquets.

A lot of people don’t think about sending flowers until something like this happens. And they don’t have to go get it. We deliver and they can send how they feel to different loved ones and it comes out pretty well.

Powell says they earned a record number of sales in 2020, and is the process of hiring more employees and expanding his business.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

I mention this because going forward in this new paradigm of a corporatist two-tiered society, it will be imperative to be flexible and follow new trends before the media outlets label them a “trend.”

Jesus said,

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Matthew 10:16

In order to survive and thrive, paying attention to trends in this shifting economy is crucial. If you have any skills at being a florist, perhaps you should consider getting into that kind of market. Or any other markets you think could be profitable.

[10] And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more; [11] And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; [12] That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

1 Thessalonians 4:10-12

As we revert back to biblical practices (they way it always should have been), having hand skills will be a necessity. Flicking your thumbs on a joystick and pushing papers in an office are not hand skills. What are hand skills are things like construction/repair/mechanic/artifice, cooking, sewing/knitting, gardening, and so on – things that can sustain yourself and also provide for others, including for profit. 1 Thessalonians 4:10-12 is written to saved men and women. I am NOT advocating women to apply for a secular job, but learning skills that aid in producing things to be sold, are required attributes to be a “Proverbs 31 Woman.”

As more and more companies and businesses will require vaccinations, masking, temperature checking, social distancing, etc., learning certain skills and examining trends will be key in order thrive and survive in this new paradigm.
